A missing Georgia girl was found safe in Jacksonville on Thursday and two people were taken into custody, authorities confirmed Friday.<\/p>\n
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Friday morning a 13-year-old girl was found safe, our sister station WSB-TV in Atlanta<\/strong><\/a> reports.<\/p>\n >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<<<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Action News Jax that it assisted the FBI in safely locating the girl in the San Marco area.<\/p>\n A Levi’s Call, Georgia’s version of an AMBER Alert, was issued for the girl on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n According to the Levi’s Call shared by the GBI, she was last seen 1 a.m. Thursday at a home on James Drive in Baxley, which is about two-and-a-half hours northwest of Jacksonville<\/p>\n [SIGN UP: <\/strong>Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter<\/strong><\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n The Baxley Police Department said in a news release that Giavannie Carter “was beating on the door” of the home and “brandishing a knife.”<\/p>\n She and Johnathan Kelly “forcefully took her biological child, who she has no rights to” away from the home, BPD said in the release.<\/p>\n GBI said in the AMBER Alert that the girl was believed to be in extreme danger. FBI Jacksonville said it and FBI Atlanta assisted the GBI in locating the girl since Carter and Kelly crossed state lines with her.<\/p>\n JSO and the FBI “believed they had located the vehicle” at the Scottish Inn on Philips Highway” around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, BPD said.<\/p>\n Action News Jax obtained surveillance video from the parking lot of the Scottish Inn, where the investigation unfolded.<\/p>\n It shows an SUV crashing into the motel. Video time stamped from 9:30 p.m. Thursday showed more than a dozen police officers, guns drawn, surrounding a vehicle outside a motel room.<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: <\/strong>Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/strong><\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n The video shows someone inside of that SUV jumping out and trying to run, but law enforcement quickly surrounds that person and takes them into custody.<\/p>\n On Friday evening, there were still signs of Thursday night’s activity.
