{"id":94388,"date":"2025-07-26T15:23:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-26T15:23:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/94388\/"},"modified":"2025-07-26T15:23:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-26T15:23:14","slug":"dallas-county-reports-1st-heat-related-death-of-2025-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/94388\/","title":{"rendered":"Dallas County reports 1st heat-related death of 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DALLAS \u2014 Dallas health officials have reported the first heat-related death of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) said Thursday the person who died was a man in his 60s with unknown pre-existing medical conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very saddened to report our first confirmed heat-related death this season,\u201d said Dr. Philip Huang, director of DCHHS, in a statement. \u201cAs high temperatures continue to impact North Texas, DCHHS urges residents to take this tragic incident as a reminder to prioritize heat safety and protect themselves and others\u2014especially older adults, children, and individuals with chronic health conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Dallas area has yet to reach 100 degrees this year, but that could change in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>DCHHS is recommending people take the following precautions as the temperatures rise:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stay hydrated, and drink water every hour when it\u2019s hot outside.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid alcohol on hot days.<\/li>\n<li>Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, which is usually around 3-7 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Stay in air-conditioned indoor locations, but if you must be outside, take frequent breaks in the shade.<\/li>\n<li>Never leave people or pets in a parked car.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For people without working air conditioning in their homes, DCHHS said they may qualify for an emergency A\/C window unit.
