Below, two experts explain why and how to tap into this trend for its many benefits.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Fibre is a type of complex carbohydrate found in plant foods that does not get digested or absorbed in our small intestine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommon sources include <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/lifestyle\/health-wellness\/article\/3136091\/amaranth-spelt-teff-kamut-fonio-know-your-ancient-grains?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">whole grains<\/a>, like brown rice, oats, quinoa and barley; legumes, like chickpeas, beans and lentils; fresh and dried fruit; vegetables; and nuts and seeds,\u201d says Denise Tam, a Hong Kong-based holistic nutritionist.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Seaweed and air-popped popcorn are good sources, too, she adds, though these are less commonly thought of.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Holistic nutritionist Denise Tam says fibre is good for gut health.
