{"id":94622,"date":"2025-07-26T17:29:13","date_gmt":"2025-07-26T17:29:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/94622\/"},"modified":"2025-07-26T17:29:13","modified_gmt":"2025-07-26T17:29:13","slug":"smoke-brings-unhealthy-air-to-maine-dep-issues-advisory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/94622\/","title":{"rendered":"Smoke brings unhealthy air to Maine, DEP issues advisory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A plume\u00a0of smoke from Canadian wildfires moved into Maine early Saturday, bringing with it unhealthy air quality due to a higher-than-expected level of particle pollution.<\/p>\n<p>The smoke is expected to continue moving across the state throughout the day, lowering particle levels, but air quality will remain a health concern for much of Saturday, according to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, which issued air quality advisories overnight.<\/p>\n<p>The advisories remain in effect until 11 p.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Particle pollution levels are considered unhealthy in western Maine, unhealthy for sensitive groups in the eastern interior, midcoast and Downeast coastal areas, and moderate in northern Maine.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, pollution levels are expected to be moderate across the state.<\/p>\n<p>The DEP recommends limiting strenuous outdoor activities. People especially sensitive to poor air quality include older adults, young children, individuals with preexisting conditions and anyone engaged in vigorous outdoor work.<\/p>\n<p>A toll-free air quality hotline has been established for residents to stay informed.
