GOOD SATURDAY MORNING. I’M NICOLE APONTE ALONGSIDE METEOROLOGIST KATIE DONOVAN. KATIE. IT’S HOT. IT’S STEAMY. PLEASE TELL ME GOOD NEWS. I KNOW WE’VE GOT TO WAIT ABOUT SIX DAYS BEFORE WE GET BACK TO SOMETHING I CAN HOLD OUT. I THINK EVERYONE ELSE CAN HOLD OUT TOO. I THINK SO TOO. YEAH. WE’VE GOT A LITTLE BIT LONGER AND THEN WE’LL HAVE LESS HUMIDITY AND MORE TOLERABLE TEMPERATURES. YEAH. SO POSSIBLY EVEN SOME UPPER 70S AS WE HEAD TOWARDS THE LATE WEEK. BUT TODAY, WEATHER IMPACT DAY AS WE GET BACK TO HIGH HEAT AGAIN. THIS WAS EXTENDED ANOTHER DAY. SO THROUGH 8:00 TONIGHT WE ARE UNDER THAT HEAT ADVISORY IN THE WLWT VIEWING AREA AS OUR HEAT INDEX VALUES CLIMB TO AROUND 100 OR MORE. OUR RADAR RIGHT NOW IS DRY. WE CANNOT RULE OUT A STRAY SHOWER. IT LOOKS LIKE MAYBE ONE TRYING TO POP UP HERE AROUND MADISON, SO WATCHING AT LEAST A COUPLE DEVELOP HERE THIS MORNING. WE’RE NOT LOOKING AT SEVERE WEATHER TODAY, BUT THAT HIGH HUMIDITY IN THE AIR THAT’S GOING TO FUEL SOME HEAVY RAIN FOR US TODAY. AND WE’RE ALSO LOOKING AT SOME OPPORTUNITIES FOR FREQUENT LIGHTNING. QUITE THE LIGHT SHOW HERE. RADAR DETECTING ALMOST A THOUSAND ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE OVER A THOUSAND STRIKES JUST WITHIN THIS ONE VIEW HERE. SO A LOT OF HIGH HEAT, HUMIDITY, DOWNPOURS. THAT IS GOING TO BE THE STORY TODAY. WE’RE STARTING OUT ON A WARM NOTE TOO. YOU HAVE 76 RIGHT NOW. THOSE DEW POINTS ARE VERY HIGH THIS MORNING SITTING IN THE LOW TO MIDDLE 70S. SO THAT’S A RANGE WHERE IT JUST FEELS VERY STICKY OUTSIDE A HEAVY TROPICAL AIR WEATHER IMPACT IN PLACE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS. IT’S GOING TO FEEL LIKE 100 OR MORE BY 3:00 TODAY. I’LL HAVE A TIMELINE FOR DOWNPOURS AS THEY DEVELOP AND ROLL ON THROUGH GREATER CINCINNATI. COMING UP NIKOLE KATIE, THANK YOU TO STAY UP TO DATE. AS HIGH TEMPERATURES AND STORMS ROLL IN. DOWNLOAD THE WLWT MOBILE APP AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE WEATHER ALERTS TURNED ON SO YOU’RE NOTIFIED ABOUT ANY ALERTS IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND BREAKING NEWS THIS MORNING. THAILAND AND CAMBODIA AGAIN TRADING ROCKET ATTACKS OVERNIGHT. THE FIGHTING HAS KILLED AT LEAST 32 PEOPLE AND HAS DISPLACED MORE THAN 80,000. THE THAI ARMY ACCUSED CAMBODIAN FORCES OF USING HEAVY ARTILLERY, PROMPTING WHAT THAI OFFICIALS DESCRIBED AS APPROPRIATE, SUPPORTING FIRE IN RETURN. MALAYSIA HAS EXPRESSED CONCERN AND OFFERED TO MEDIATE. THE UN SECRETARY GENERAL HAS ALSO CALLED FOR BOTH COUNTRIES TO RESOLVE DISPUTES THROUGH DIALOG, AND THIS IS A LIVE LOOK OUTSIDE AT PAYCOR STADIUM AS CINCINNATI MUSIC FESTIVAL PREPARES FOR ITS FINAL NIGHT. THE FESTIVAL WRAPS UP TONIGHT AFTER A STAR STUDDED THREE DAYS OF MUSICAL ACTS. THIS WAS THE SCENE LAST NIGHT AS PEOPLE FILLED IN TO SEE EARTH, WIND AND FIRE ROCK AT PAYCOR. THE FOCUS MAY HAVE BEEN ON THE MUSIC, BUT MUSIC FEST IS ALSO DRAWING IN THOUSANDS TO DOWNTOWN WITH FOOD VENDORS AND OTHER BIG EVENTS HAPPENING NEARBY. ONE MAN SPOKE TO US LAST NIGHT ABOUT THE ATMOSPHERE ALONG THE RIVER THIS WEEKEND. THE PERFECT SUMMER NIGHT. NICE BREEZE. YOUNG LADY CAME OVER AND STARTED TALKING TO ME. HEY, IT GOES TOGETHER. THE GOOD WEATHER, GOOD BEAUTIFUL WOMAN CAME TALKING TO ME. SHE SAID THE FIVE. I SAID, WELL, I LOOKED OVER THERE AND SAW YOU GUYS COME ON RIGHT HERE. THE ENERGY IS UNMATCHED THERE. LL COOL J HEADLINES TONIGHT’S BIG FINISH. HE WILL BE JOINED BY SEVERAL OTHER ARTISTS. THERE WILL ALSO BE A TRIBUTE TO FRANKIE BEVERLY. FOR MORE ON TONIGHT’S LINEUP, HEAD TO OUR WEBSITE AT WW.COM. IT IS A JAM PACKED WEEKEND HERE IN GREATER CINCINNATI, KICKING OFF WITH THE QUEEN CITY. FIVE K IN JUST A FEW HOURS, BUT WITH FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TO HIT THE HUNDREDS. FIRST RESPONDERS ARE FOCUSED ON KEEPING EVERYONE SAFE. WLWT NEWS FIVE’S RICHARD CHILES IS LIVE AT PAYCOR STADIUM WITH THE CHARITABLE EVENT AND THE TIPS TO STAY COOL. RICHARD. GOOD MORNING. NOW, STADIUM TEMPERATURES ALREADY SAYING 82 DEGREES. WE KNOW THAT HEAT INDEX IS GOING TO BE IN THE HIGH ALMOST 100 TRIPLE DIGIT. WHETHER YOU GET A CHANCE TO TALK ABOUT JUST HOT, SWELTERING, WEARING LOOSE CLOTHES, DOCTOR BARRAGE AND THE FOLKS AT PAWNEE WATER, THEY’RE GOING TO BE THE STARS OF THE SHOW THIS MORNING BECAUSE THEY’RE ALL ABOUT HYDRATION AS THIS AS THIS RUN GETS STARTED ABOUT 8:00 THIS MORNING. NOW, THIS IS A5K, A SHORT SPRINT FOR MOST OF THESE RUNNERS, TAKING THEM ABOUT 30 MINUTES. IT IS A VERY SCENIC COURSE. LONG LEAFY AREAS, JUST AROUND. OF COURSE, THE BANKS FLOATING THROUGH THE RIVERFRONT PARKS. IT TAKES OFF HERE FROM PAYCOR MAKING THAT TURN GOING ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE MONTGOMERY INN. SO AGAIN, IT’S RUNNING THROUGH THE LEAFY AREAS OF THE PARK. SO IT IS AGAIN, ONE THAT’S GOING TO BE A LITTLE BIT COOLER. BUT FOR THOSE RUNNERS POUNDING THE PAVEMENT, IT IS ALL ABOUT STAYING COOL TO STAY SAFE, MAKING SURE THEY’RE DRINKING LOTS OF PONTY WATER, WATCH EACH OTHER BECAUSE OF THE HEAT, WATCH OVER EACH OTHER. IF YOU START TO SEE SIGNS WHERE PEOPLE ARE KIND OF GETTING PALE, LIGHTHEADED, SEEING THEM GET DIZZY, MAKE SURE TO CALL SOMEBODY WITH AN EMS BACKGROUND TO COME AND SEE ABOUT THEM. DON’T TAKE IT LIGHTLY, YOU KNOW, DON’T TAKE IF YOU JUST HAD A HEADACHE, BUT YOU YOU DIDN’T HAVE A HEADACHE FIVE MINUTES AGO. YOUR BODY’S REACTING TO THE SUN. NOW, EVEN AT 8:00 THIS MORNING, STILL WANT TO BE PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION TO SOME OF THOSE SIGNS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND EXERTION. OF COURSE, BEING LIGHTHEADED, THE DIZZINESS, THE CONFUSION. THOSE ARE SOME OF THE GENERAL SYMPTOMS THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP IN MIND. BODY’S GOT TO BE ABLE TO HYDRATE ITSELF, BUT THERE’S GOING TO BE A GREAT DEAL OF CONCERN. WHEN YOU STOP SEEING THAT SWEAT LAYER. AGAIN. THIS RACE TAKING OFF 8:00 THIS MORNING. IT IS A FUNDRAISER TO SUPPORT CINCINNATI YOUTH. IT’S ONE THAT IS SO CRITICALLY IMPORTANT. WE’VE BEEN PART OF THIS RACE FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, MAKING SURE THAT WE SUPPORT THIS GREAT MISSION, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, MAKING SURE YOU’RE HYDRATING, MAKING SURE THAT YOU’RE STAYING SAFE AS THIS WEATHER, TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO BE HOVERING INTO THOSE DANGEROUS TRIPLE DEGREE WEATHERS.
