{"id":94678,"date":"2025-07-26T18:01:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-26T18:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/94678\/"},"modified":"2025-07-26T18:01:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-26T18:01:09","slug":"firefighters-escort-one-of-their-own-to-cemetery-in-new-philadelphia-pottsville-republican-herald","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/94678\/","title":{"rendered":"Firefighters escort one of their own to cemetery in New Philadelphia \u2013 Pottsville Republican Herald"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW PHILADELPHIA \u2014 In an outpouring of respect, firefighters from around the region turned out to mark the passing of one of their own at services on Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas J. \u201cJed\u201d Bartashus Jr., chief engineer of the Good Intent Fire Company in New Philadelphia, died at home on July 18. He was 56.<\/p>\n<p>He was the son of Thomas J. and Judith Bernitsky Bartashus. His father is owner and funeral director at Thomas J. Bartashus Funeral Home in New Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p>A long line of mourners paid him tribute at a viewing Friday evening in the family\u2019s funeral home.<\/p>\n<p>A large American flag waved near the funeral home, supported by a pair of aerial ladder trucks from Tamaqua and Saint Clair.<\/p>\n<p>Nearby, his turnout jacket was draped, beneath a wreath of flowers, on the front of a Good Intent fire truck. William F.
