Longtime Journey<\/a> keyboardist Jonathan Cain said rock icon Bruce Springsteen<\/a> should keep his politics out of his act. <\/p>\n

\u201cGuys like Bruce Springsteen should shut up, you know,\u201d Cain, an outspoken conservative, told The Complete Disaster Network podcast<\/a>. \u201cHonestly, shut up, Bruce.\u201d <\/p>\n

Springsteen has been politically active for decades, and just finished a tour put together in response to President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s second term in office. During the shows, Springsteen called out Trump\u2019s \u201ccorrupt, incompetent, racist, reckless and treasonous administration<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cBruce, I mean, what the heck? I used to like him and now he\u2019s just annoying,\u201d he told the podcast. \u201cHe\u2019s an annoying, bitter old man. I mean, stop it.\u201d <\/p>\n

Cain is a Trump supporter and his wife, Paula White-Cain, is a senior adviser<\/a> in the White House Faith Office who is often seen with the president. Cain performed at Mar-a-Lago in 2022<\/a>, and Cain and several other members of Journey visited Trump at the White House<\/a> in 2017. <\/p>\n

But Cain said that\u2019s different from what Springsteen does \u2015 because he keeps his politics out of his shows. <\/p>\n

\u201cNow, people say, \u2018Well, you\u2019re Christian and you\u2019re conservative,\u2019\u201d Cain said. \u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018So what?\u2019 I don\u2019t preach it on stage. I don\u2019t spend 10 minutes talking about it.\u201d <\/p>\n

The interview was posted in May, but is getting new attention after being featured on Blabbermouth<\/a> and Ultimate Classic Rock<\/a> over the weekend. <\/p>\n

During the interview, Cain also slammed Springsteen over one of his biggest hits. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, you were \u2018Born in the USA,\u2019 weren\u2019t you, dude? So act like it,\u201d he said. \u201cBut even that song, if you look at the lyrics, I mean, it\u2019s a kind of a dis to our country.\u201d <\/p>\n

The song deals with the mistreatment of Vietnam veterans after they returned home from the war, although it\u2019s often misunderstood to be a jingoistic anthem and politicians \u2015 including Trump \u2015 have routinely played it at rallies and other events.<\/p>\n

Springsteen\u2019s criticisms have gotten under Trump\u2019s skin.<\/p>\n
