{"id":948806,"date":"2026-07-21T03:16:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T03:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/948806\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T03:16:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T03:16:19","slug":"uh-launches-new-interdisciplinary-health-program-community-resources-sugar-land-missouri-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/948806\/","title":{"rendered":"UH launches new interdisciplinary health program, community resources | Sugar Land &#8211; Missouri City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uh.edu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">University of Houston<\/a> has launched a new program\u2014dubbed UH Health\u2014combining a variety of fields for medical research and education, officials announced in a July 15 news release.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Breaking it down<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>UH Health will offer research opportunities and clinical training combining several areas of study, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nursing<\/li>\n<li>Optometry<\/li>\n<li>Pharmacy<\/li>\n<li>Psychology<\/li>\n<li>Social work<\/li>\n<li>Population health<\/li>\n<li>Chemistry<\/li>\n<li>Physics<\/li>\n<li>Biomedical engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The program will also work with the Humana Integrated Health Systems Science Institute and hospitals in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmc.edu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas Medical Center<\/a>, per the release.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In their own words<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Jonathan McCullers, vice president for health affairs at UH and dean of the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, said UH Health is designed to better suit the needs of the medical field and prepare students for their future careers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHealthcare is no longer delivered in isolation, and complex health challenges require coordinated solutions,\u201d McCullers said. \u201cUH Health allows us to work across disciplines to tackle health challenges, advance research and improve outcomes for patients and our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Another detail<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>UH Health will also provide medical care to the university\u2019s nearby communities, per the release.
