The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 480 points, or 0.9%, as of 1:12 p.m. Eastern time, and the Nasdaq composite was 1.4% higher.<\/p>\n<p>AI stocks once again were at the center of the action, and they rose for a second straight day after <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/stocks-markets-ai-iran-trump-rates-65449e9565fba441a617f9517e097f5a\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tumbling the week before<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>After rocketing higher because of the <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/economy-gdp-consumer-spending-trump-iran-war-a3ecd4459a091458fd9b61772d79b7da\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">boom in investment<\/a> in AI chips and data centers, <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/tech-stocks-ai-investments-8a0ff4c95d5cae6f65c6e2ba03047058\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">they\u2019ve come under pressure<\/a> in recent weeks on worries that they shot too high. Nvidia added 1.3%, and they were among the strongest forces lifting the S&amp;P 500. <\/p>\n<p>The gains came despite more climbs for oil prices, and Brent crude oil topped $90 per barrel because of <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/iran-us-hormuz-strait-war-july-21-2026-1664f6a4dad005a99771b2ad15213585\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">continued attacks between the United States and Iran<\/a>. It rose 2.2% to $91.22 and briefly got near $92 for the first time in more than five weeks. That\u2019s up from less than $72 early this month, which is roughly where it was before the war with Iran. <\/p>\n<p>Rising oil prices are threatening a reacceleration of <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/inflation-trump-food-prices-gas-53d221aa918c466172af494ba7debc00\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">inflation<\/a>, just as increases for prices were slowing more than economists expected. That in turn could push <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/warsh-federal-reserve-inflation-4a1da547d64ae3d54fba29161b213601\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Federal Reserve<\/a> and other central banks to raise interest rates to keep a lid on inflation, which would <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/bond-market-warning-wall-street-trump-9ef90df1ae1cd1283f8cf04221611112\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">slow economies and undercut prices<\/a> for stocks and other investments.<\/p>\n<p>The yield on the 10-year Treasury edged up to 4.63% from 4.60% late Monday and from just 3.97% before the war with Iran began.<\/p>\n<p>On Wall Street, several stronger-than-expected profit reports from big U.S. companies helped stocks to strengthen despite the added pressure.<\/p>\n<p>3M climbed 7.6% after topping analysts\u2019 expectations for both profit and revenue in the latest quarter. It also raised its forecast for profit over the full year of 2026. <\/p>\n<p>Hasbro rallied 7.2% after the toy maker said its Magic: The Gathering game topped $500 million in revenue for a quarter for the first time. Analysts pointed to its forecast for an underlying measure of revenue growth for the summer, which was weaker than Wall Street expected. <\/p>\n<p>Homebuilder D.R. Horton edged 0.1% higher after topping profit and revenue expectations for the latest quarter. Executive Chairman David Auld said it\u2019s still feeling the effects of affordability concerns in the housing market and caution among potential home buyers. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/interest-rates-home-sales-mortgage-rates-housing-7b1788905df990d8030f67e0f62afa7d\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mortgage rates have already climbed to their highest level<\/a> in nearly a year because of higher Treasury yields in the bond market. That could force D.R. Horton to offer more incentives to homebuyers in the current quarter, which would cut into its profits.<\/p>\n<p>Companies broadly are under pressure to deliver strong growth in profit and revenue because of how high their stock prices have shot. <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/stock-markets-iran-inflation-oil-3544bd70e0f767404d2de91fd116d68e\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Indexes are near their records<\/a>, even with the recent shakiness for AI stocks. <\/p>\n<p>In stock markets abroad, indexes rose modestly in Europe. The United Kingdom\u2019s FTSE 100 added 0.6% as new Prime Minister Andy Burnham hosted his <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/uk-prime-minister-burnham-cabinet-meeting-economy-18d380d746c0e2df0d2a1f3d35cf4ce0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">first Cabinet meeting.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In Asia, stocks swung more. South Korea\u2019s Kospi jumped 3.6% on strong gains for its two dominant stocks.
