GRIMES COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – KBTX has confirmed with the Texas Comptroller\u2019s office that Governor Greg Abbott and both Grimes County school districts have submitted positive determinations on SpaceX\u2019s proposed Terafab JETI tax agreements, clearing a major hurdle for what could become the largest industrial project in Texas history.<\/p>\n
Official verification letters have not yet been posted to the Comptroller\u2019s website, but KBTX confirmed the determinations have been submitted to the Texas Comptroller\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
On July 14, both Anderson-Shiro CISD<\/a> and Iola ISD<\/a> voted 5-2 to approve all eight JETI tax incentive agreements tied to SpaceX\u2019s proposed Terafab semiconductor manufacturing facility near Gibbons Creek Reservoir.<\/p>\n Under state law, Gov. Abbott operated under the same 30-day decision window as the school districts, a window that opened June 15 when the Texas Comptroller approved all eight applications<\/a> and closed July 15. After that decision window, Abbott had another seven-day window<\/a> to notify all parties involved of his vote. <\/p>\n KBTX made multiple attempts to reach the Governor\u2019s office for comment throughout the process but did not get a response. <\/p>\n With positive determinations now submitted from all three required parties, the final step is the formal execution of the agreements.<\/p>\n The applicant, both school districts, and the Governor must come together to formally sign the agreements. Once signed, that document is submitted to the Texas Comptroller, and SpaceX\u2019s first construction phase can begin.<\/p>\n
