{"id":952625,"date":"2026-07-22T21:17:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T21:17:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/952625\/"},"modified":"2026-07-22T21:17:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T21:17:15","slug":"new-mossad-chief-meets-cia-director-for-talks-on-iran-war-nuclear-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/952625\/","title":{"rendered":"New Mossad chief meets CIA director for talks on Iran war, nuclear program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Roman Gofman, the new head of the Mossad, met with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/international\/article-902820\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CIA<\/a> Director John Ratcliffe during his recent trip to Washington to talk about the war in Iran and the latest developments on the Iranian nuclear program, Axios reported on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/roman-gofman\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gofman&#8217;s<\/a> first trip to the US since being named chief of the Mossad back in June.<\/p>\n<p>According to Axios&#8217; sources, the visit aimed to coordinate the US and Israel ahead of the ongoing negotiations with Iran and the nuclear issue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The report also noted that Ratcliffe was among the most pessimistic US officials on the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Iran, warning that the Iranians would have a different interpretation of the deal than the US.<\/p>\n<p>Axios said that both the CIA and the Mossad refused to comment on the meeting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/article-899736\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gofman<\/a> was named chief of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/defense-news\/article-898127\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mossad<\/a> on June 2, after a lengthy legal battle that required a ruling of the High Court of Justice in order to be approved.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">His selection was initially approved by the Senior Appointments Advisory Committee, which is tasked with examining whether any issues of integrity, conduct, or propriety could render an appointment improper.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The appointment then faced intense legal hurdles, with two petitions filed against it.
