{"id":9527,"date":"2025-06-24T01:57:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T01:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/9527\/"},"modified":"2025-06-24T01:57:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T01:57:10","slug":"stock-market-today-live-updates-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/9527\/","title":{"rendered":"Stock market today: Live updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Traders work at the New York Stock Exchange on June 23, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>NYSE<\/p>\n<p>Stock futures rose on Monday night after President Donald Trump said that there is a ceasefire timeline for Israel and Iran.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@DJ.1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a> added 185 points, or 0.4%. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@SP.1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P 500 futures<\/a> gained 0.5%, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@ND.1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nasdaq 100 futures<\/a> rose 0.7%. Stock futures took a leg higher after President Donald Trump announced on <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/114734934153569653\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Truth Social<\/a> a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/23\/iran-qatar-iraq-attacks-us-israel.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ceasefire timeline<\/a> that he said would end the conflict between Iran and Israel. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@LCO.1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brent crude futures<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@CL.1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West Texas Intermediate futures<\/a> were also down in extended trading, slipping more than 3%.<\/p>\n<p>The three major averages rose in the regular session as investors appeared to look past Iran&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/23\/iran-qatar-missiles-us-doha.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">retaliatory strike<\/a> on a U.S. military base in Qatar. Qatar&#8217;s Defense Ministry said that its air defense had intercepted the attack. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dow<\/a> rose nearly 375 points, while the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.SPX\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> added 0.96%. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.IXIC\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nasdaq Composite<\/a> gained 0.94%.<\/p>\n<p>No casualties were reported from Monday&#8217;s incident. This attack was in retaliation for the United States <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/21\/trump-israel-iran-conflict.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">striking nuclear development facilities<\/a> in Iran on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Stocks also caught a tailwind from falling oil prices on Monday. WTI futures reached their highest levels since January overnight, but settled down more than 7%.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We probably built as much as a $15 to $20 per barrel premium in oil over the last week versus where we were trading pre-Israel, Iran. And we&#8217;re now in the process of eliminating that,&#8221; said Veriten&#8217;s Arjun Murti on CNBC&#8217;s &#8220;Closing Bell: Overtime&#8221; on Monday. &#8220;I think the market is saying, &#8216;Hey, it looks like the worst of this turmoil is behind us.&#8217; If we are on track to avoid a bigger war, that is unquestionably good news.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday morning, traders will watch Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/23\/powell-speaks-on-capitol-hill-this-week-with-politics-front-and-center.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he speaks<\/a> before the House Financial Services Committee and presents the central bank&#8217;s monetary policy report. The central bank chief will go before the Senate Banking Committee on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Powell&#8217;s appearance on Capitol Hill comes at a pivotal time: He is facing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/18\/trump-says-stupid-powell-probably-wont-cut-rates-when-fed-meeting-ends-wednesday.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an aggressive push<\/a> from the White House to cut rates \u2014 and in recent days <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/23\/fed-governor-bowman-favors-july-interest-rate-cut-if-inflation-stays-low.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two Fed officials<\/a> have said they could see a case for dialing back policy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/20\/fed-governor-waller-says-central-bank-could-cut-rates-as-early-as-july.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">as early as July<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On the economic release front, traders will also watch out for home price data and June&#8217;s consumer confidence reading.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014CNBC&#8217;s Jeff Cox contributed reporting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Traders work at the New York Stock Exchange on June 23, 2025.
