And we’d follow Mitchell anywhere after his brilliant and visually striking 2014 horror film It Follows. But because the first trailer (understandably) highlighted the action and mystery of the film, it was missing the sweeping, slow-moving, focus-shifting wide shots that make Mitchell’s work so distinctive.

A new trailer advertising that tickets are on now on sale for The End of Oak Street sets that right. It opens with a seemingly innocuous shot of a family getting into a car. As the camera spins, though, we see Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor running across the back of the frame, fleeing from some unseen terror. And then we see the terror, and it’s a dinosaur, and it chomps some poor lady’s head right off. In other words: we’re so back, baby.

At a recent 4DX preview event for the film, Mitchell spoke about the suburban childhood inspiration behind the film. “There’s a sort of magic to it, you know, to sort of what’s behind the garage, what’s on the next street or beyond that chain link fence,” he said.

“I mean, it was really the idea of connecting, you know, the average and the mundane and the idea of a normal neighborhood with something that is so fantastical,” Mitchell continued. “And I thought that the merging of those two things would be interesting, that we might, you know, sort of grounding the spectacle, basically.”

The mundane and the fantastical will crash into each other when The End of Oak Street hits theaters on August 14. Tickets are on sale now.

Want more io9 news?
