JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 A federal indictment filed Wednesday charges William Lintag Upham, 35, a Jacksonville Marine and former state prosecutor, with threatening to kill President Donald Trump in social media videos and a message, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

The indictment alleges that between July 13 and July 15, Upham posted videos in which he wore a military uniform, called the postings a \u201ccall to arms\u201d and urged an overthrow of the administration.<\/p>\n

In one video, the indictment says, he described a method of shooting that included \u201ctwo shots to the chest and one shot to the head.\u201d <\/p>\n

In a second video, prosecutors say, Upham called the president the \u201cAntichrist\u201d and a \u201cfalse Messiah\u201d and said he \u201cmust be killed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The indictment also says Upham sent an email to a third party stating he \u201cwill kill President Trump at the time that God chooses, not when I choose,\u201d with the intent to communicate a true threat and with recklessness as to whether others would view the statement as a real threat of violence.<\/p>\n

Upham was arrested July 16 and has been ordered detained, the U.S. attorney\u2019s office said. The charge \u2014 threatening to kill the president \u2014 is a federal offense that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Secret Service received reports about the posts and reviewed the videos, the criminal complaint and the indictment said. Investigators also allege Upham had access to firearms and made concerning statements to law enforcement as recently as July.<\/p>\n

The Marine Corps said in a social media post that it was aware of Upham\u2019s statements and noted he had been medically discharged on May 30, 2025. The service called the comments \u201cdisturbing\u201d and said they violated the oath Upham had sworn, the post said.<\/p>\n

The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. attorney\u2019s office in the Middle District of Florida. Further court proceedings, including arraignment and any potential trial date, have not been announced.<\/p>\n
