(WOWT) \u2014 Papillion-La Vista Community Schools will not offer a pay-to-ride bus option for middle and high school students this year, the district confirmed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Some parents have been asking the district to provide a transportation option for students who are not on a regular bus route but whose families are willing to pay for the service.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Parents say some students must cross busy intersections and highways to reach school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The district has issued a survey to parents as it evaluates potential routes, the cost to families, and the cost to the district.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s a massive decision, and we want to go through and do the proper due diligence to evaluate all options, whether that\u2019s a parent-pay model, a split model, what different routes,\u201d said Brian Lodes, PLCS board president.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Several other metro-area school districts already offer pay-to-ride busing, including Gretna, Elkhorn, Millard, and Bennington.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Westside has a similar program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The PLCS board plans to address the issue at its next board retreat, scheduled within the next one to two months.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WOWT.
