Rochester Regional Health was selected for its “demonstrated commitment to community-based care, operational expertise, and experience supporting healthcare systems serving rural communities.”

“Selecting the right partner was one of the most important decisions in North Star’s recovery,” said Andy Manzer, Interim Chief Executive Officer of North Star Health Alliance.

“Rochester Regional Health shares our commitment to serving the North Country and brings the experience, financial strength and strategic vision necessary to help secure a sustainable future for our organization. Together, we can strengthen access to high-quality healthcare while positioning North Star for long-term success.”

As the next step, North Star Health Alliance and Rochester Regional Health will jointly pursue a multi-year Safety Net Transformation Program grant through the New York State Department of Health. The funding would support North Star’s continued financial recovery while strengthening healthcare delivery across the region.

It’s not clear what the partnership entails beyond that at this point, but the organizations will also continue discussions regarding a formal affiliation.

Any final agreement will be subject to all required regulatory and court approvals, North Star officials said.

Today’s announcement does not change how North Star patients receive care. Patients should continue attending scheduled appointments and following their existing care plans, according to North Star officials.

The proposed affiliation also does not change the status of the service changes previously announced by North Star Health Alliance, including the proposed closure of labor and delivery services, nuclear medicine services, and the primary care clinics in Waddington, Heuvelton and Hammond. Those proposals remain under review by the New York State Department of Health.

As part of that review, North Star Health Alliance will host a New York State Department of Health-required public hearing on Wednesday, July 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ogdensburg Free Academy Auditorium. Community members, patients, employees, physicians, elected officials and other interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend.

Hospital leadership will present information on the proposed service changes, the reasons for the recommendations, plans to maintain continuity of care for patients and the anticipated impact on the community. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments, which will be submitted to the New York State Department of Health as part of its review.

The hearing will also be available remotely via Google Meet at https://meet.google.com/hdk-znis-sji or by phone at 1-678-453-6952 (PIN: 854 373 313#). Written comments may be submitted for one week following the hearing to North Star Health Alliance, Attn: Administration, 214 King Street, Suite C, Ogdensburg, NY 13669, or by email to communityfeedback@nshany.org. Additional information is available by calling 315-713-5564.

While the announcement could be a step toward stability at the hospital, it does move St. Lawrence County closer to a healthcare monopoly as Rochester Regional operates hospitals in Gouverneur, Potsdam and Massena.

OGDENSBURG – Rochester Regional Health will become the strategic partner for North Star Health Alliance under a proposed…

[35
83346,44055,83353,83354,72155,83355,19302,83345,210,1141,1142,46491,83344,405,65065,83343,83342,83351,39011,83352,83356,83358,83357,67,132,68,83349,83350,83348,83347
post-955079","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-health-care","tag-adirondack-foothills","tag-adirondacks","tag-alcoa","tag-arconic","tag-canton","tag-clarkson-university","tag-fishing","tag-gouverneur","tag-health","tag-health-care","tag-healthcare","tag-hunting","tag-massena","tag-new-york","tag-north-country","tag-ogdensburg","tag-potsdam","tag-snowmobiling","tag-st-lawrence-county","tag-st-lawrence-seaway","tag-st-lawrence-university","tag-suny-canton","tag-suny-potsdam","tag-united-states","tag-unitedstates","tag-us","tag-village-of-canton","tag-village-of-massena","tag-village-of-norwood","tag-village-of-potsdam
["GET
