The series of notes are capped by a spoiler, which in the Episode 1 credits reads \u201cBarry Dies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWho is Barry? He turned out to be Denise\u2019s boyfriend in post-apocalyptic Pasadena who dies pretty meaninglessly when he says \u201cFollow me!\u201d and charges first into the heavily guarded CalTech, leading Stuart and Bert, joined by Denise, in their mission to break in and take Sheldon and Leonard\u2019s machine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWhile the title sequence spoiled one death, the series\u2019 premiere featured a bigger, more shocking killing of an original Big Bang character, Raj (Kunal Nayyar), who had been imprisoned at CalTech by Barry Kripke (Bowie). You<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/07\/big-bang-theory-spinoff-stuart-creators-premiere-raj-death-1236979878\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> can read all about it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDeadline asked Stuart Fails To Save the Universe creators Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Zak Penn about the clever, custom title sequences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>DEADLINE: Was this about one of you being really unhappy with the streaming culture of people skipping opening credits?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>LORRE<\/strong>: Me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>PRADY<\/strong>: Chuck said people make these brilliant opening credit sequences that people watch one time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>LORRE<\/strong>: And then you can click on the button that says \u2018Skip Titles\u2019, and I went, \u201cWell, it\u2019s a terrible waste of time and money and creativity. What if we made a title sequence that you could skip but you shouldn\u2019t? And that would mean every title sequence have to be different and worth watching. And then we got a gift from the gods when Danny Elfman said yes, I\u2019ll write a theme and produce a theme song, and he rearranged it and and remixed it and did variations on it throughout the 10 episodes as well, so the end result was a title sequence that hopefully is surprising and fun to watch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>DEADLINE: And the spoiler part, where did it come from? Chuck, was it you again? Because some of them are really spoilers; \u2018Barry Dies\u2019 is a real spoiler.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>PENN<\/strong>: Yeah, that was I think something we all liked the idea of right off the bat is, why not? Who cares? We were like, let\u2019s try it. Let\u2019s just see what happens if we put a spoiler in the title, and we were just trying to keep ourselves entertained and do things that were different.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>PRADY<\/strong>: I mean, not much more than it made us laugh, the notion that, especially in the online television watching culture, there\u2019s all of this stuff about spoilers, people hunting for spoilers, people trying to avoid spoilers. What if there\u2019s a spoiler and it\u2019s just sort of kind of meaningless?<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>PENN<\/strong>: Also, I always felt like if we say \u201cSpoiler: Gary Dies,\u201d a lot of people are going to think, well, It\u2019s not going to be that simple. So it would still be shocking when he actually does die. I\u2019m counting on people being cynical about it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>LORRE<\/strong>: I\u2019m counting on people laughing. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>PRADY<\/strong>: The answer to a lot of questions is because it made us laugh, and we hope it makes other people laugh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>DEADLINE: Some of the spoilers are really mild, but this one was like, first: who\u2019s Gary?, and then it was that simple, he just died. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>PRADY<\/strong>: He died, didn\u2019t he? And he really just died.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>PENN<\/strong>: Yeah, it\u2019s just totally pointless.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>LORRE<\/strong>: \u201cFollow me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>PRADY:<\/strong> \u201cFollow me.\u201d Oh.<\/p>\n<p>\t\tMusical Variations\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Simpsons theme composer Elfman recalled \u201cthe crazy thing\u201d that happened after he was asked to write main title music for Stuart Fails To Save the Universe and, as a Big Bang fan, agreed to do it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI wrote it, Chuck loved it, and he said, \u2018So here\u2019s the thing. I need you to do 10 variations on it,&#8217;\u201d Elfman said. \u201cI thought about it for two seconds. No one\u2019d ever asked me to do that before but I just said, \u2018You got it.&#8217;\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAnd he did it, drawing inspiration from the particular episode for its unique theme music. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cIt wasn\u2019t even difficult,\u201d he said. \u201cEach episode, just mix it up and try things.
