BALTIMORE \u2014<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Baltimore Orioles sealed the deal on the largest pitching contract in team history.<\/p>\n
Kyle Bradish, 29, signed a five-year, $90 million contract that keeps him in Baltimore through 2031.<\/p>\n
“I might not have been drafted by the Orioles, but I felt like this is where I’ve spent my whole career and this is where I want to spend the future,” the right-handed pitcher said at a news conference Friday afternoon (watch in its entirety in video above).<\/p>\n
Bradish came to Baltimore in the 2019 Dylan Bundy trade<\/a> with the Los Angeles Angels, which drafted Bradish in the fourth round of the 2018 amateur draft.<\/p>\n “He’s a bright young man, very talented, but a kind of person that we’re really proud to have as part of the organization, in addition to his athletic skills,” Orioles lead owner David Rubenstein said.<\/p>\n “Kyle (is) an enormous part of our team, this organization, and, of course, this pitching staff. We’re hopeful that we have the best years of his career here in Baltimore and continue the amazing success that he’s had already so far in Baltimore that has turned out to be a great place for him, and he’s just been a great fit for us,” said Mike Elias, the Orioles’ president of baseball operations.<\/p>\n Bradish has shown a complete recovery after having undergone Tommy John surgery in 2024<\/a>, and he recently told WBAL-TV 11 Sports Director Pete Gilbert that he has never felt better on the mound. Bradish has a 3.61 ERA in 19 starts this year. Bradish has a 3.50 ERA in all five of his major league seasons with the Orioles.<\/p>\n “To the fans of Baltimore, you’re some of the best fans in baseball, and I’m really excited to be out there every fifth day and compete for you guys,” Bradish said.<\/p>\n “This is where I’ve spent my whole career and this is where I want to spend the future.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Elias said the support of the ownership group led by Rubenstein was key to reaching the deal.<\/p>\n “We wanted to do what we could to make sure that he enjoyed a career in Baltimore as long as possible. So, I’m really thrilled this all came together,” Elias said. “I would like to thank and acknowledge our ownership group led by David for making things like this possible and making them a priority.”<\/p>\n “When my ownership group took over the team a number of years ago, we said we’re prepared to put in money for longer-term relationships with players. This is, I think, the fourth one that we’ve done,” Rubenstein said. “We want to make sure that our best players are with us for quite some time and we have the resources to do this.”<\/p>\n Bradish’s deal is now the third extension the club has given to a player this year following the extensions of Shane Baz<\/a> and Samuel Basallo<\/a>.<\/p>\n “We’re hopeful that we have the best years of his career here in Baltimore.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n “I think this rotation has done a great job this year, really happy with the talent that we see. I think there’s a real healthy competition amongst them; they seem like they’ve got a real culture going in the rotation, and we want to keep building.
