{"id":957093,"date":"2026-07-24T22:21:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T22:21:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/957093\/"},"modified":"2026-07-24T22:21:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T22:21:14","slug":"orville-peck-reveals-2023-suicide-attempt-after-overdose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/957093\/","title":{"rendered":"Orville Peck reveals 2023 suicide attempt after overdose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Orville Peck revealed he attempted suicide after cancelling his \u201cBronco\u201d tour in June 2023 \u2014 but the crisis became a \u201cturning point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was a bad addict, a coping alcoholic,\u201d the country star, 38, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/orville-peck-overdose-rehab-new-album-mule-1235597852\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">told Rolling Stone<\/a> in an interview published Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I had this spiral moment, where I went back to my hotel and tried to take my life,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt was a big turning point for me, with a lot of realizations to come. It was something that needed to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_4-0\">The \u201cMidnight Ride\u201d hitmaker shared that two days prior to pulling the plug on the tour \u2014 citing his \u201ccurrent mental and physical health\u201d\u00a0\u2014 he\u2019d purposely overdosed.<\/p>\n<p>Orville Peck, seen above in 2025, revealed that he purposely overdosed prior to cancelling his 2023 \u201cBronco\u201d tour. orvillepeck\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was a bad addict, a coping alcoholic,\u201d Peck, pictured here at Madison Square Garden in June 2023, told Rolling Stone.  Tori Schneebaum<\/p>\n<p>Peck told the outlet he was \u201cin one of the worst places\u201d of his life at the time \u2014 but noted that his upcoming album, \u201cMule,\u201d became an outlet for a difficult year that included a rehab stint and a breakup.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_8-0\">The first single from the album, \u201cToo Little Too Late,\u201d dropped on Friday, while the album itself is set for release on Sept. 18.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_8-0\">The singer announced the album \u2014 his fourth studio offering \u2014 in a social media post on Thursday, sharing a portrait of himself in white boxers, a white T-shirt, a white cowboy hat and his signature mask.  The other image featured a black-and-white picture of a mule.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis record is a chronological account of the year I lost my way,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DbJDVLKgACh\/?hl=en&amp;img_index=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">captioned the announcement<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Peck, shown above in a social media upload, called the moment a \u201cturning point.\u201d  orvillepeck\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>The singer, pictured here in 2024, has been coping by writing songs for his new album, he told the outlet. I want to leave,\u2019\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/05\/12\/entertainment\/jennifer-lawrence-roast-mike-pence-at-glaad-media-awards\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> GLAAD Media Awards Vito Russo Award<\/a> honoree continued, \u201cWhat I was really trying to capture in terms of the concept, there was no way to gloss over or sugarcoat it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Peck\u2019s new album, \u201cMule,\u201d is set for release Sept. 18. He\u2019s seen above in a portrait shared to Instagram on July 23 to announce the album.
