MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) – A planned multidisciplinary public safety training will take place at multiple Marquette County locations next week. <\/p>\n
Marquette County, Marquette City and Northern Michigan University will host the training and have activities from Monday until Wednesday in and around Mattson Lower Harbor Park, Northern Michigan University and Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport, according to a Thursday afternoon Marquette County Sheriff\u2019s Office press release. <\/p>\n
The exercise will bring together local, state, federal and nonprofit agencies to strengthen coordination, communication and joint response capabilities. The training will involve marine safety, hazardous materials response training, and collaboration and coordination among participating agencies. <\/p>\n
The release says the exercise will provide an opportunity for partners to practice working together, sharing information, coordinating resources and strengthening relationships that are critical during real-world emergencies. <\/p>\n
\u201cExercises like this allow our public safety partners to train together before an emergency occurs,\u201d said Undersheriff Lowerll Larson. \u201cThe goal is to build trust, improve coordination, and ensure that agencies across our community are prepared to work together when residents need us most.\u201d<\/p>\n
People in the area may see an increase in public safety activity during the exercise, including emergency vehicles, personnel in protective equipment and other visible training activities. Some activities may also generate temporary noise. The public shouldn\u2019t be alarmed in these cases. <\/p>\n
