An investigation is underway after deputies shot and killed a man in Bellflower on Friday night.<\/p>\n
Deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 10400 block of Artesia Boulevard just before 9 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The shooting occurred shortly after when deputies contacted the suspect, who was reported to be armed with a firearm.<\/p>\n
More details about what prompted deputies to shoot were not provided.<\/p>\n
Authorities say the man was struck and taken to the hospital, where he died. His identity has not been released.<\/p>\n
No deputies were injured in the incident.<\/p>\n
Aerial footage from NewsChopper4 showed more than a dozen law enforcement vehicles at the scene and what appeared to be a handgun on the sidewalk.<\/p>\n
As with all LASD deputy shootings that result in a person getting struck, multiple independent investigations will take place, including by the Homicide Bureau and the Internal Affairs Bureau. The LASD also notified the Office of the Inspector General.<\/p>\n
