The partnership brings together three Texas institutions with longstanding ties to the state\u2019s Western heritage.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"645\" data-end=\"852\">\u201cBig Tex has long represented the spirit, hospitality, and traditions that make Texas unique,\u201d Jennifer Schuder, senior vice president of customer engagement for the State Fair of Texas, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"854\" data-end=\"1150\">\u201cPartnering with Cavender\u2019s and Resistol brings together two Texas brands that authentically represent the Western heritage, craftsmanship, and pride that Big Tex has embodied for generations. We\u2019re excited for fairgoers to see Big Tex sporting a new look that celebrates the very best of Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1152\" data-end=\"1333\">The collaboration comes as the State Fair prepares for its 2026 event, themed <strong data-start=\"1230\" data-end=\"1264\">\u201cStars, Stripes, and Howdies,\u201d<\/strong> which runs from <strong data-start=\"1281\" data-end=\"1309\">September 25 through October 18<\/strong> at Fair Park in Dallas.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Brands With Deep Roots<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1368\" data-end=\"1718\">Founded in Pittsburg, Texas, in 1965 by James and Pat Cavender, Cavender\u2019s has grown from a single family-owned store into one of the nation\u2019s largest Western wear retailers. The company now operates more than 130 locations across 19 states and has been inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame for its contributions to preserving Western culture.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1720\" data-end=\"1992\">\u201cThe State Fair of Texas is one of the most recognizable traditions in our state, so being asked to become the Official Western Wear Store of Big Tex is incredibly special for our team,\u201d said Jennifer Green, Cavender\u2019s senior manager of Western and community partnerships.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1994\" data-end=\"2153\">\u201cBig Tex has welcomed generations of Texans to the Fair, and we\u2019re honored to play a small part in that tradition by collaborating on his new signature shirt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2155\" data-end=\"2324\">Mike Cavender, vice president of Cavender\u2019s Boot City and son of the company\u2019s founders, said the partnership reflects the shared histories of the retailer and the fair.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2326\" data-end=\"2570\">\u201cThe State Fair of Texas has been bringing families together for generations, just as Cavender\u2019s has welcomed generations of families into our stores,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a privilege to play a small role in one of Texas\u2019 most cherished traditions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Resistol Returns to Fair Park Roots<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2612\" data-end=\"2694\">Joining Cavender\u2019s is Resistol, one of the country\u2019s best-known cowboy hat makers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2696\" data-end=\"2899\">Founded in Dallas in 1927 and now headquartered in Garland, Resistol has spent nearly a century producing hats worn by ranchers, rodeo competitors and entertainers, including George Strait and John Wayne.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2901\" data-end=\"3188\">The partnership also carries historical significance. Resistol introduced its first Western cowboy hat at the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition held at Fair Park, making its role as Big Tex\u2019s official hat supplier nearly 90 years later a symbolic return to where its Western legacy began.<\/p>\n<p>A Symbol of Texas Tradition<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3222\" data-end=\"3483\">Standing 55 feet tall, Big Tex has greeted millions of fairgoers since becoming the State Fair\u2019s official ambassador in 1952. While his wardrobe has evolved over the decades, his cowboy persona has remained one of the most recognizable symbols of Texas culture.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3485\" data-end=\"3618\">State Fair officials said Big Tex\u2019s updated attire reflects their ongoing commitment to celebrating Texas craftsmanship and heritage.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3620\" data-end=\"3864\">\u201cFrom Big Tex\u2019s custom shirt to his signature hat, each element reflects the State Fair of Texas\u2019 commitment to honoring the stories, traditions, and craftsmanship that continue to bring generations together,\u201d the fair said in its announcement.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3866\" data-end=\"4095\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">When Big Tex greets visitors this fall, officials said his refreshed look will showcase not only timeless Western style but also the enduring legacy of quintessential Texas brands that have helped define Western wear for generations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3866\" data-end=\"4095\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">For the past several years, Texas bootmaker <strong>Luchesse<\/strong> has crafted Big Tex\u2019s size 96 footwear.
