Corey Sipkin for the NY POST<\/p>\n<p>Stearns will look for a repeat of the success he had last July, when Phil Maton, Ryne Stanek, Huascar Brazob\u00e1n, Paul Blackburn and Jesse Winker arrived to bolster a team that squeaked into the postseason before advancing <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/10\/21\/sports\/heroes-zeros-from-mets-game-6-loss-tommy-edman-caps-monster-nlcs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">to Game 6 of the NLCS<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year the acquisitions we made, they weren\u2019t just for last year,\u201d Francisco Lindor said. \u201cThey are helping us this year. Brazob\u00e1n became one of the high-leverage relievers. I trust [the front office]. Whatever they want to do. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are really good at it, so I am just looking forward to it. I\u2019m sure it\u2019s going to be an exciting week for the Mets organization and for Stearns \u2026 I am sure they are going to get excited. Charles Wenzelberg \/ New York Post<\/p>\n<p>The Mets have young players such as Brett Baty, Ronny Mauricio, Mark Vientos and Luisangel Acu\u00f1a that could bring different levels of returns. <\/p>\n<p>The farm includes high-end pitching prospects in Nolan McLean, Brandon Sproat <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/30\/sports\/jonah-tong-carson-benge-representing-mets-in-futures-game\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">and Jonah Tong<\/a>, in addition to Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford \u2014 both of whom arrived at the trade deadline two years ago from the Astros in the deal for Justin Verlander.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Soto, the Mets addressed a need for lefty relief that emerged after A.J. Minter and Danny Young underwent season-ending surgeries.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Stearns] knows what he is doing, and Soto is a great addition to our bullpen,\u201d Brandon Nimmo said. \u201cI love bringing in a hard-throwing lefty and I have never enjoyed facing him.
