I like to look on Google Maps for how long it\u2019s gonna take and then challenge it. So if it says 20 minutes, you try to do it in ten.<\/p>\nWhat\u2019s the longest you\u2019ve waited on a subway platform? <\/strong>I once waited a half an hour after a Yankees game for a train.<\/p>\nHow often do you take public transportation to the airport? <\/strong>I used to have a job where I had to go to England every Friday, and I used to take the subway to the airport. So I have earned the right not to take the train to the airport anymore.<\/p>\nIt\u2019s a blinking red light and you\u2019re about to cross \u2014 do you wait it out till it says walk, or are you crossing? <\/strong>You have to jaywalk every chance you get. You have to impress the tourists.<\/p>\nYou have family coming to town in 24 hours \u2014 what do you do with them on short notice? <\/strong>I probably would take them tourist places. We\u2019re going to Olive Garden and Times Square, to go see the Vessel \u2014 the worst places in New York, that\u2019s where I\u2019m taking my family.<\/p>\nWhat\u2019s something a tourist does that you secretly still do? <\/strong>Anytime I\u2019m at Astor Place, I have to make the cube spin.<\/p>\nSomeone you want to impress asks for restaurant advice \u2014 what neighborhood do you send them to for the best Cuban food? <\/strong>Mott Haven in the Bronx. I\u2019m a Bronx baby, so I\u2019m always gonna send people to the Bronx.<\/p>\nSomeone says the rats are actually cute \u2014 what\u2019s your honest response? <\/strong>New York rats have an attitude, and they will charge at you.<\/p>\nHave you ever actually been to Staten Island? <\/strong>I\u2019ve been to Staten Island once in my whole entire life. The whole idea of taking a boat to another borough doesn\u2019t sit right with me.<\/p>\nDo you call Manhattan \u201cthe city\u201d or just Manhattan? <\/strong>I still call it the city. That was the place people wanted to go to \u2014 it was aspirational when you lived in the Bronx.<\/p>\nHow would you do the New York City accent? <\/strong>I would just open my mouth \u2014 everything that comes out of my mouth has a New York City accent.<\/p>\nWhere do you go to cry? <\/strong>The pier over by the East River. The sounds of the waves and the ferry \u2014 no one will hear you.<\/p>\nBest New York celebrity sighting? <\/strong>So I saw Stef Manisero from NY1 at a Knicks game, and I completely lost it \u2014 even she didn\u2019t know how to handle it.
What about NYC still makes no sense to you? <\/strong>That the train can be 24 hours. I have no idea how they pull it off, but we\u2019re very lucky to have that.<\/p>\nYou know you\u2019re a New Yorker when \u2026 <\/strong>You can fall asleep on the train and you wake up magically at your stop \u2014 you can just sense it.<\/p>\nWhat\u2019s a place that closed that you wish you could bring back? <\/strong>Foley\u2019s on 33rd Street. It had the oldest urinals in New York City \u2014 ice, urinals you\u2019d pee on and it\u2019d melt.<\/p>\nEvery New Yorker should do what at least once?<\/strong> Go to the Bronx Zoo. My favorite thing is the House of Darkness. On Wednesdays it\u2019s free.<\/p>\nSexiest New Yorker? <\/strong>Ellie the Elephant from the Liberty.<\/p>\nHow much do you pay when you go to the Met? <\/strong>I pay the full amount. I have a little money now, so I\u2019m giving back to the arts.<\/p>\nHave you ever cried over a New York sports team?<\/strong> A couple of weeks ago \u2014 my sweet Knicks, baby.<\/p>\nLast thing you used your famous-person status to get in New York? <\/strong>Balthazar, on the day of the Knicks parade \u2014 I was able to get a table really fast for me and my sisters.<\/p>\n\ufeffHow many times have you moved in New York? <\/strong>Five times. The first move was my first apartment \u2014 I didn\u2019t use any cars, I actually moved on foot using my friends, and I paid them using Baileys and pizza.<\/p>\nHave you ever gotten a piece of furniture off the street? <\/strong>I got a dresser once. My mother taught me: If it\u2019s pressed wood, it presses in \u2014 that\u2019s from Ikea. But if you bite on it and it\u2019s real wood \u2026 So I had to bite on a piece of wood in the middle of the street. I don\u2019t recommend it.<\/p>\n
