On the Raw after WrestleMania 42, CM Punk closed out his promo segment<\/a> with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes by saying the following line:<\/p>\n

\u201cI just got to stay ready, because you never know when a championship opportunity is just gonna fall out of the sky.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Punk disappeared from WWE<\/a> for over two months, only to return in July and win the WWE championship<\/a> on his first night back. Since then, Punk, Rhodes, and WWE commentators have mentioned multiple times how Punk delivered on his word and cashed in when a championship opportunity fell out of the sky.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, my eyebrows immediately raised during tonight\u2019s (July 25) episode of AEW Collision when \u201cJungle\u201d Jack Perry began his promo with very similar verbiage.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mission is to become the AEW world champion. But, when an opportunity falls out of the sky, you take it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Perry is referring to the opportunity he has on Sunday (July 26) at AEW Redemption to become the number one contender for the AEW International championship by competing in a 6-way ladder match.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t imagine it\u2019s a coincidence that Perry used the same \u201copportunity falls out of the sky\u201d line that is a focus of Punk\u2019s current story in WWE, given the history<\/a> between Punk and Perry that led to CM\u2019s termination from AEW<\/a>. However, I also don\u2019t get what the point is of copying that specific phrase. It\u2019s not like it was accompanied by a jab or joke at Punk\u2019s expense.<\/p>\n

Am I losing my mind over something that is a complete coincidence, or did Jack Perry just blatantly steal CM Punk\u2019s line for no obvious reason?
