Former Gov. David Paterson compared Mayor Zohran Mamdani to segregationist George Wallace as he pushed for a federal investigation into whether Hizzoner is inciting anti-Jewish violence.<\/p>\n
Paterson, who is also a former chairman of the state Democratic Party, said Mamdani\u2019s antagonist stance against Israel \u2013 including his empty threat to arrest Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> \u2013 could be a dog whistle to antisemites.<\/p>\n Former Gov. Wallace, a four-time presidential candidate and former governor of Alabama, infamously proclaimed,\u201d segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever.\u201d<\/p>\n Paterson said the social-media focused socialist mayor is not explicitly calling for violence in his anti-Israel rhetoric, but like Wallace it could fuel people on the brink.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s taking those people on the edge and making them more likely to commit violence. It\u2019s giving fodder to antisemitic people.\u201d Paterson claimed.<\/p>\n Paterson is co-writing a letter to push for an investigation into the mayor\u2019s tactics.<\/p>\n He said he\u2019s co-writing a letter with Dov Hikind, former Brooklyn assemblyman and founder of Americans Against Antisemitism, asking the US Justice Department to investigate whether Mamdani is violating federal laws.<\/p>\n They will ask other elected officials and New York leaders to sign the letter.<\/p>\n The extraordinary move comes days after crazed defendant Raul Morales screamed \u201cAllahu Akbar\u201d while allegedly stabbing an Asian and Jewish man<\/a> in separate harrowing hate attacks on the Upper West Side on Thursday.<\/p>\n Raul Morales allegedly screamed \u201cAllahu Akbar\u201d before stabbing an Asian man and a Jewish man in NYC.
