An off-duty Philadelphia police officer has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Northampton County on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Kenroy Cummings, 25, is being charged with homicide and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer.<\/p>\n
The shooting happened shortly before 2 p.m. Friday in the 1200 block of Old Gate Road in Allen Township.<\/p>\n
Pennsylvania State Police said troopers were called to a home for a reported domestic incident. At the scene, they found a 27-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds and were told the suspected shooter had fled.<\/p>\n
Authorities said troopers later located the Cummings’ vehicle in nearby Hanover Township. When they attempted a traffic stop, Cummings allegedly sped away.<\/p>\n
According to investigators, the suspect eventually returned to the scene, where troopers took him into custody.<\/p>\n
Philadelphia police identified Cummings as a 24th District officer who patrols the city’s Kensington section.<\/p>\n
The department says the internal affairs bureau is conducting an administrative investigation, but directed questions about the shooting to state police.<\/p>\n
Sources say the victim and suspect are related.<\/p>\n
Further details on the circumstances of the shooting have not been released.<\/p>\n
The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office says out of respect for the family’s privacy, the victim’s identity will not be released until after the autopsy.
