The living room has a wall of north-facing windows and more than enough space for a dining table and a chaise sectional. You can also easily add in a work-from-home nook. The bedroom gets north-facing light, too, and has been set up with a California Closet system to hold all your furs (now that you’re an Upper East Sider). The windowed kitchen is sleek, with plenty of storage and solid stainless-steel appliances. The bathroom is a subway-tile situation with a quartz vanity. The monthlies are $2,114 and get you a lot: a 24-hour doorman, a live-in super, shared laundry and bike storage, and a rooftop terrace. Also, you’re less than a ten-minute walk from Central Park and the Met, and the Pastrami Queen is just a couple blocks away for its mountainous sandwiches.

205 E. 77th St., Apt. 12B

A listing shot of a Lenox Hill one-bedroom that’s big on the minimalist aesthetic.
Photo: Corcoran

A “Japanese-inspired” one-bedroom, per the listing copy. This East 77th Street co-op is big on clean lines and warm white tones. The living room has an east-facing wall of windows that leads to a 280-square-foot balcony terrace that’s the true standout of the apartment. It’s basically the size of its own room. The apartment is also rich in storage: I counted a dozen closets — eight in the living area and another four, including a walk-in, in the south-facing bedroom. The bathroom feels a little uninspired compared to the rest of the place, but it does have an impressively large shower and a floating vanity. The kitchen is small, but the blue-tiled backsplash is pretty, and the paneled appliances are a smart design touch. The monthlies are $2,439 and go toward a 24-hour doorman, a concierge, and a live-in super, plus shared laundry and a landscaped roof-deck if you want even more outdoor space. It’s a block from the 77th Street 6 train, and Butterfield Market’s just a little farther for whatever viral treat comes next.

372 Fifth Ave., Apt. 3M

A listing shot of a one-bedroom loft in Midtown South with astonishing proportions.
Photo: Corcoran

This co-op in Midtown South is a loft with two baths (one per floor) with proportions that are pretty astonishing. Right past a generously sized foyer that could easily accommodate a sitting area is the open-concept kitchen, which has been outfitted with a breakfast bar and a full-size wine cooler. (In more normal kitchen needs, there’s a side-by-side fridge and plenty of storage, too.) The living area has 17-foot ceilings and is roomy enough for a full dining table. Then there’s a nearly 16-foot private terrace. Upstairs is the lofted sleeping area with 7.5-foot barreled ceilings and enough space to fit a king. There’s also an en-suite bath and a walk-in closet. What else? There’s a split-system AC; you’re less than a ten-minute walk to Bryant Park for greenery, Whole Foods, the main branch of the New York Public Library, and transit. The $2,318 monthlies pay for a bike room, a full-time doorman, shared laundry, and a private rooftop terrace. Also, Tuesday night K-town karaoke is just a few blocks down, if that’s your pleasure.

300 E. 4th St., Apt. 5B

A listing shot of an East Village one-bedroom that feels cozy thanks to the exposed brick.
Photo: Corcoran

There’s something romantic about living in a converted 19th-century church, and this loft feels particularly special. The living area is spacious, the exposed brick cozy, and the location pretty primo (you’re right by Hamilton Fish Park and its under-the-radar public pool, as well as Clinton St. Baking Company for blueberry pancakes). The modern kitchen is loaded with storage, including some secret spots in the butcher-block peninsula, and the bathroom’s terra-cotta tiling is a nice touch. The bedroom, while a little tight, is big enough to fit a queen, and this one also comes with a private terrace upstairs with skyline views. For $2,066 in monthly maintenance fees, you’ll get a bike room and in-building laundry. It’s a hike to the Second Avenue F, but bus life and Citi Bike life await.

Sign Up for the Curbed Newsletter

A daily mix of stories about cities, city life, and our always evolving neighborhoods and skylines.

Vox Media, LLC Terms and Privacy Notice

By submitting your email, you agree to our Terms and Privacy Notice and to receive email correspondence from us.

See All

A listing shot of an Upper East Side one-bedroom that’s sun-drenched from the living room’s north-facing windows.
