Mayor Zohran Mamdani\u2019s administration has published a searchable database of Big Apple properties that could fall under the state\u2019s new pied-\u00e0-terre tax<\/a>, effectively doxxing thousands of wealthy New Yorkers.<\/p>\n

The city\u2019s Department of Finance uploaded the comprehensive list \u2013 which purports to cover all unoccupied, non-primary residences in the five boroughs worth north of $1 million \u2013 including the full names and addresses of every property owner.<\/p>\n

The move follows a widely panned X post by the mayor in which he put wealthy residents on notice <\/a>to \u201ccheck your mailbox when you\u2019re back in the five boroughs, because you\u2019ve got mail,\u201d a warning that notification letters were on their way.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best city in the world deserves the best parks, libraries, and schools in the world. That\u2019s only possible when we all pay our fair share,\u201d Mamdani wrote Thursday.<\/p>\n

The socialist darling has long touted the policy enacted by Gov. Kathy Hochul and Albany Democrats to tax second homes in the city \u2013 though critics have warned it could cause property values to plummet.<\/p>\n

Mamdani threatened to raise city property taxes by a staggering 9.5% in February unless he was allowed to \u201ctax the rich\u201d to cover a $12 billion budget gap that was later revised down to $5.4 billion.<\/p>\n

City Hall estimates the\u00a0pied-\u00e0-terre tax would yield $500 million per year for the Big Apple\u2019s budget.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But Democratic city Comptroller Mark Levine\u2019s office said the real figure would be closer to $340 to $380 million and could diminish over time.<\/p>\n

The mayor is just getting started in fulfilling his campaign pledge to siphon funds from rich New Yorkers to bankroll his wealth redistribution agenda.<\/p>\n

But it turns out\u00a0even the middle-class isn\u2019t safe<\/a>\u00a0from the pricey giveaways on his wishlist, which are being funded by the\u00a0$23 billion in taxes Mamdani has backed since being sworn in.<\/p>\n
