{"id":96366,"date":"2025-07-27T09:29:25","date_gmt":"2025-07-27T09:29:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/96366\/"},"modified":"2025-07-27T09:29:25","modified_gmt":"2025-07-27T09:29:25","slug":"events-across-the-state-honor-the-day-sovereignty-was-restored","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/96366\/","title":{"rendered":"Events across the state honor the day sovereignty was restored"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) &#8211; This year marks the 183rd anniversary of La Ho\u2019iho\u2019i Ea and celebrations kicked off on Saturday across the state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The holiday on July 31st honors the day when sovereignty was restored to King Kamehemeha the third following a five-month British occupation. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">On Saturday, on Oahu, festivities kick off at 8 a.m. with a community walk at Waimanalo Elementary and Intermediate school. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Events are also being held in Waianae and Haleiwa. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Maui Nui Botanical gardens, Molokai Community health center, and Pa\u2019auilo Elementary school on Hawaii Island will host celebrations starting at 9 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">On Sunday, more events will be held in Thomas Square in Honolulu, Lihue, and Pahoa on Hawaii Island.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lahoihoiea.org\/events-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/lahoihoiea.org\/events-2025\/\">Click here for more information on the upcoming events.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 Hawaii News Now.
