{"id":96375,"date":"2025-07-27T09:34:15","date_gmt":"2025-07-27T09:34:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/96375\/"},"modified":"2025-07-27T09:34:15","modified_gmt":"2025-07-27T09:34:15","slug":"zohran-mamdanis-presidential-style-uganda-wedding-bash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/96375\/","title":{"rendered":"Zohran Mamdani&#8217;s presidential-style Uganda wedding bash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Socialist NYC mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani celebrated his recent nuptials with a lavish, three-day affair at his family\u2019s ritzy, secluded Ugandan compound \u2014 complete with masked security guards and a cellphone jamming system, The Post has learned. <\/p>\n<p>The gates of the bustling, private compound, which sits in the wealthy Buziga Hill area outside the capital city of Kampala, were heavily guarded by military-style, masked men this week, with guests streaming in and partying until midnight, according to sources in the town who wished to remain anonymous for security reasons. <\/p>\n<p>Mamdani, 33, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/05\/12\/us-news\/socialist-nyc-mayoral-contender-zohran-mamdani-secretly-tied-the-knot-in-exotic-dubai-ceremony-photos-show\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">eloped with artist and animator Rama Duwaji,<\/a> 27, in February.<\/p>\n<p>He told his social media followers Sunday he was heading to his homeland to celebrate with his wealthy filmmaker mom and professor dad, who own the Buziga Hill property.<\/p>\n<p>The neighborhood is home to some of Uganda\u2019s richest, including billionaire businessman Godfrey Kirumira, a city tycoon with stakes in real estate, tourism, petroleum and infrastructure, and houses neighboring the Mamdanis easily fetch more than $1 million. <\/p>\n<p>Rama Duwaji and NYC Mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani, who eloped in February, were celebrating their nuptials with a multi-day bash in his native Uganda. Instagram\/Le March\u00e9 des Fleurs<\/p>\n<p>The home is set back from the road and sits on two acres of lush gardens surrounded by trees, has breathtaking, panoramic view of Lake Victoria and features at least three security gates.<\/p>\n<p>This week, it was transformed into a party pad, with Christmas lights strung into the canopy of trees in the garden and music blaring, sources said. On Tuesday, buses, several Mercedes and a Range Rover 4 were seen driving to the compound.<\/p>\n<p>Christmas lights were seen strung into trees inside the Mamdani property\u2019s garden. Katumba Badru\/New York Post<\/p>\n<p>Security was extremely tight, sources said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOutside the Mamdani house were more than 20 special forces command unit guards, some in masks, and there was a phone-jamming system set up \u2014 and all for the strictly invite-only Mamdani event,\u201d one witness confirmed to The Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne gate had around nine guards stationed at it,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p>Guards including government-style security were placed outside Mamdani\u2019s house as he celebrated his wedding. Katumba Badru\/New York Post<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani\u2019s parents, Nair, 67, and her husband, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/16\/us-news\/zohran-mamdani-followed-in-dads-footsteps-to-found-sjp\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mahmood Mamdani<\/a>, 78, an<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/12\/us-news\/mamdanis-dad-part-of-anti-israel-group-sympathetic-to-suicide-bombers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> anti-Israel political theorist<\/a>, live on the estate but also split their time between New York and New Delhi. Nair\u2019s Instagram page includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Cf61hxzoNOo\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">one post featuring a coconut tree<\/a> planted when Mamdani was born.<\/p>\n<p>A native of Kampala, Mamdani moved to New York when he was 7, becoming a U.S citizen in 2018. He\u2019d announced his marriage to<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/25\/us-news\/who-is-rama-duwaji\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Duwaji<\/a>, an illustrator, earlier this year.\u00a0The pair met on the dating app, Hinge and now share a rent-stabilized apartment in Astoria.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, revelers enjoyed fruit juices, a typical addition for Indian-style events, as well as dancing to music from a local DJ, sources told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani and Rama Duwaji who spent three days celebrating their wedding at the Mamdani house outside Kampala. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>One witness reported making out the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/23\/us-news\/jeffries-freaking-out-over-absolute-insanity-of-zohran-mamdani-taking-over-nyc-mike-lawler\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NYC\u2019s Democratic mayoral nominee<\/a>\u2018s voice on a microphone addressing guests later that night, with the party ending after midnight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen on Friday, inside the compound, there were military style tents being taken down when the party had finished,\u201d they added. \u201cThen what looked like Mamdani personal security guards took over at the gates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Flowers were left outside a closed gate at Mamdani\u2019s home after days of wedding celebrations in Buziga, Kampala. Katumba Badru\/New York Post<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFlowers were also left in a pile on the ground near one of the security gates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The property is isolated enough that some locals weren\u2019t even aware of the three-day wedding extravaganza.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLocal children have been watching Mamdani on TV, and everyone was talking about him, but not about the wedding,\u201d another resident said. \u201cFor us, it\u2019s just about survival. We\u2019re just trying to win the bread and make sure our families are OK.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had heard that Mamdani was going to be Mayor of New York, and he had made it over in America,\u201d another added. \u201cWe want to know now if we can get free visas to the U.S. and to travel to New York like he did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Expensive cars were seen arriving at Buziga Hill Road last week as Mamdani threw a party for his wedding.
