{"id":963759,"date":"2026-07-28T02:56:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T02:56:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/963759\/"},"modified":"2026-07-28T02:56:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T02:56:15","slug":"potential-septa-key-advantage-expansion-for-apartment-buildings-could-place-free-key-cards-in-tenants-hands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/963759\/","title":{"rendered":"Potential SEPTA Key Advantage expansion for apartment buildings could place free Key cards in tenants\u2019 hands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 SEPTA is testing the idea of expanding its Key Advantage program beyond employers and universities, to firms that own apartment buildings.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Offering an all-access SEPTA pass to apartment building residents could make a property more attractive to prospective renters.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what could soon happen at the Isaac, a 104-unit building near the Market-Frankford Line at Front and Berks streets, where the building\u2019s owner, the HOW Group, is planning to sign on to SEPTA\u2019s Key Advantage plan. <\/p>\n<p>Under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audacy.com\/kywnewsradio\/news\/local\/more-employers-may-soon-offer-discounted-septa-key-card-perk\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Key Advantage<\/a>, employers, the city or schools buy SEPTA passes at a discounted rate and allow students or employees to use the passes to ride SEPTA for free. <\/p>\n<p>Tom Kelly, SEPTA\u2019s senior director of financial operations, said 63 employers are currently signed on. About half of the eligible students and employees are taking advantage, he explained, and SEPTA now will study how these apartment dwellers would use the transit benefit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven that they\u2019re so close to transit, it\u2019s likely to be much higher. We\u2019re looking at possibly 80%,\u201d Kelly said, adding that it would be a key amenity for property owners. \u201cIt could make their property more competitive to attract tenants.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>SEPTA is using a $150,000 grant from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission for a two-year pilot.
