{"id":963875,"date":"2026-07-28T04:15:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T04:15:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/963875\/"},"modified":"2026-07-28T04:15:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T04:15:17","slug":"sapd-splashed-water-on-vehicle-sparks-apparent-road-rage-shooting-with-2-year-old-caught-in-middle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/963875\/","title":{"rendered":"SAPD: Splashed water on vehicle sparks apparent road rage shooting with 2-year-old caught in middle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\"><strong>SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 The San Antonio Police Department arrested and charged a man and a woman after their alleged involvement in a shootout with a another vehicle that endangered the life of a child sitting in the suspects\u2019 backseat. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">According to court records, Daniel Jude Jimenez, Jr., 32, and Lois Badillo-Lopez, 29, are facing the following charges: <\/p>\n<ul class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 etvbxt font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Stack-vJ7SwH7U__StackBase-sc-1m5bkhd-0 evEXvX dsnUCb\">\n<p>aggravated assault for discharging a firearm from a vehicle (first-degree felony)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Stack-vJ7SwH7U__StackBase-sc-1m5bkhd-0 evEXvX dsnUCb\">\n<p>putting a child in imminent danger or bodily injury (second-degree felony)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Jimenez and Badillo-Lopez\u2019s bonds on both charges were set at $150,000 each, records show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">According to Bexar County Adult Detention Center filings, Jimenez has been released on bond \u2014 though the filing is unclear when he was released. As of Monday evening, Badillo-Lopez remains in jail custody. <\/p>\n<p>Shots fired <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">San Antonio police received a July 11 call from a man who told officers he was engaged in a shootout with another vehicle moments earlier on the westbound lanes of Interstate 10. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The man said he first encountered the suspects\u2019 vehicle while both cars were traveling westbound on East Houston Street near I-10. According to an arrest affidavit, the man\u2019s vehicle drove through a puddle that splashed onto the suspects\u2019 vehicle. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">As both vehicles turned left onto the access road and merged onto I-10, the man told officers he noticed the suspects\u2019 vehicle \u201caccelerate\u201d before it began driving alongside the driver\u2019s side of his vehicle. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">According to the man, Jimenez lowered his window, attempted to get the other driver\u2019s attention and began yelling in the man\u2019s direction. When the man lowered his window, he told police he saw Jimenez holding a black handgun \u201cwith a red-dot optic\u201d and began \u201cwaving it\u201d towards the man. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The man, who said he feared for his safety, then \u201cretrieved his lawfully possessed handgun,\u201d the warrant states. As he turned toward Jimenez, Jimenez \u201cimmediately fired multiple rounds\u201d at the man\u2019s vehicle, according to police. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">In response, the man told police he \u201creturned fire\u201d toward Jimenez before the man exited on South Gevers Street, returned home and called 911, SAPD detectives wrote. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The man said his vehicle was struck multiple times. When officers arrived at the man\u2019s home, they counted at least \u201cfive apparent bullet strikes to the lower driver\u2019s side door\u201d of his vehicle, police said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Authorities said the man was not injured during the shootout. He later \u201cvoluntarily\u201d provided dashcam footage of the shooting to SAPD. <\/p>\n<p>Caught on camera<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">According to the SAPD detective leading the investigation, the man\u2019s dashcam footage depicted several details of his story: the splashed puddle on East Houston Street, the suspects\u2019 vehicle catching up with the man\u2019s vehicle on I-10, the \u201cexchange of gunfire\u201d and the man\u2019s exit onto South Gevers Street. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">After the man exited, the footage shows the suspects\u2019 vehicle continued traveling on I-10. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The video of the shooting also allowed for investigators to identify the license plate of the suspects\u2019 vehicle. Police later learned the suspects\u2019 vehicle was registered to Jimenez and was frequently parked at his South Side apartment complex. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">One week after the shootout, detectives found Jimenez\u2019s vehicle at the apartment complex with \u201cwhat appeared to be a gunshot strike to the rear passenger-side door,\u201d the warrant states. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Detectives arrived at Jimenez\u2019s door. Jimenez invited them inside the apartment where documents show Badillo-Lopez also lives. <\/p>\n<p>Child in danger <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">During her conversation with detectives, the affidavit states Badillo-Lopez revealed Jimenez\u2019s child, a 2-year-old, was sitting in the rear passenger seat at the time of the shooting. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">After she saw the man in the other vehicle display a gun, investigators said Badillo-Lopez decided to retrieve her own handgun, insert a loaded magazine and chambered a round. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Moments later, according to her account, the man \u201cfired multiple gunshots\u201d in the direction of Jimenez\u2019s vehicle. Badillo-Lopez then gave Jimenez her gun and Jimenez responded with gunfire of his own at the other man\u2019s vehicle, police said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Jimenez told detectives he rolled his passenger side window down and began arguing with the man in the other vehicle. Documents show Jimenez began firing at the man\u2019s vehicle after the man opened fire on Jimenez\u2019s vehicle. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">However, unlike the man in the other vehicle, Jimenez and Badillo-Lopez said they didn\u2019t contact law enforcement after the shooting.
