HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A fiery and deadly crash has shut down a portion of the West Beltway on Tuesday morning, according to Harris County Constable Precinct 5.<\/p>\n

Houston TranStar<\/a> shows the wreck has closed the West Sam Houston Tollway southbound lanes at Westpark Tollway near Westheimer.<\/p>\n

Pct. 5 confirmed to ABC13 that someone had died in the crash, adding that it involved a Corvette that was going at a high speed down the Beltway before it lost control and hit the barrier wall. The Corvette was then reportedly hit by an 18-wheeler and caught fire.<\/p>\n

TranStar cameras captured the fire just after 3 a.m., when flames and smoke could be seen coming from the car.<\/p>\n

It’s unclear when the lanes will reopen as crews work to clean up the crash.<\/p>\n
