{"id":965273,"date":"2026-07-28T20:23:16","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T20:23:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/965273\/"},"modified":"2026-07-28T20:23:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T20:23:16","slug":"philly-postal-workers-rally-to-protect-usps-from-privatization-political-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/965273\/","title":{"rendered":"Philly postal workers rally to protect USPS from privatization, political attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 Postal workers in Northeast Philadelphia celebrated the United States Postal Service&#8217;s 251st anniversary by sending a message: \u201cThe U.S. Mail is not for sale.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Postal workers and allies gathered just outside of the Sgt. Christopher David Fitzgerald Post Office on Bustleton Avenue on Tuesday, to celebrate the service just slightly older than the country itself.<\/p>\n<p>Vince Tarducci of the American Postal Workers Union spoke bluntly as he rallied to protect workers against political attacks and efforts to privatize the post office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 1775, when our founding fathers made a decision to create a public post office, it was for the people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just turned 251 on July 26 and we want to let them know, public postal service is needed in this country \u2014 and if big billionaires had their say they would privatize us one day at a time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia City Commissioner Lisa Deeley spoke to supporters, saying voting by mail was being attacked to disenfranchise voters with false claims of voter fraud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the United States of America, where we vote freely and fairly.
