{"id":965553,"date":"2026-07-28T23:17:42","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T23:17:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/965553\/"},"modified":"2026-07-28T23:17:42","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T23:17:42","slug":"boy-8-shoved-into-fence-as-man-with-hammer-fights-security-guard-at-jewish-school-in-queens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/965553\/","title":{"rendered":"Boy, 8, shoved into fence as man with hammer fights security guard at Jewish school in Queens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man armed with a hammer shoved an 8-year-old boy into a fence during a tussle with a security guard at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2024\/05\/29\/antisemitic-driver-tries-to-run-over-jewish-people-outside-brooklyn-yeshiva-none-injured\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jewish School<\/a> in Queens after a woman he was pursuing fled into the building seeking refuge, according to police sources and NYC Councilman Phil Wong.<\/p>\n<p>The boy cut his head when he hit the fence, cops said. He was not seriously injured. The 42-year-old attacker, who has been arrested about 50 times, was taken into custody, sources said.<\/p>\n<p>Charges against the man were pending, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The attack occurred about 10:50 a.m. at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schools.nyc.gov\/schools\/QACJ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Jewish Institute of Queens<\/a> on Woodhaven Blvd. in Woodhaven.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect was chasing a college-age woman with a hammer when she darted into the front yard of the Jewish school and security there rushed to her aid, according to Wong, whose district includes the Jewish Institute of Queens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on the information relayed to me by the NYPD, the school does not appear to have been the intended target,\u201d Wong said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect was fleeing school security when he knocked the student into the fence, injuring him, Wong and sources said.<\/p>\n<p>The guards managed to disarm the suspect, taking his hammer, and officers with the 112th Precinct placed him under arrest.<\/p>\n<p>A hate crime is not suspected at this time, police sources said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am praying for the injured child, the college-aged woman who sought refuge, and everyone impacted by this frightening incident,\u201d said Wong. \u201cI am also grateful to the institute\u2019s security personnel and the officers of the 112 Precinct for their swift actions in bringing this dangerous situation to an end.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Police said the man with the hammer has been arrested more than 50 times. He currently lives in East New York, Brooklyn.<\/p>\n<p>His last arrest was on July 24 when he was caught palming about $1,300 in merchandise from Bergdorf Goodman. He was released without bail after his arrest.<\/p>\n<p>The attack comes just days after a man shouting\u00a0\u201cAllahu Akbar\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/07\/25\/suspect-in-uws-stabbing-rampage-facing-40-years-for-hate-crime-spree-prosecutors\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stabbed an Asian man and a Jewish man in back-to-back broad-daylight attacks on the Upper West Side<\/a>.
