\n\tEvan Rachel Wood<\/a> is sharing the reason she believes she wasn\u2019t asked to return for the upcoming Practical Magic sequel.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight<\/a>, the actress said it doesn\u2019t seem like Practical Magic 2<\/a> will be following the book. The sequel was adapted from author Alice Hoffman\u2019s The Book of Magic, which was the follow-up to her first novel Practical Magic.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI read the book and it seems like they\u2019re not following the book,\u201d Wood said. \u201cI think in the book it would have made sense to bring me back; I think in the way they\u2019re redoing it and approaching it, it didn\u2019t make sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 1998 film followed two witch sisters (played by Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman), raised by their eccentric aunts, as they face a curse that threatens any man who falls in love with an Owens woman. Wood and Alexandra Artrip played the daughters of Bullock\u2019s character, Sally Owens.<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this month, Wood took to Instagram to confirm for fans that she wouldn\u2019t be reprising her role<\/a> in the new film. \u201cI am getting asked about this a lot, so l\u2019ll just clear it up now; I was not asked to come back and be in the\u00a0Practical Magic\u00a0sequel,\u201d she wrote at the time. \u201cl offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line. I was told they are recasting. I am sorry to disappoint the fans. It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the sequel, Joey King was recast to play Wood\u2019s character, while Maisie Williams will be playing the younger sister of Artrip\u2019s character from the first film. Dianne Wiest\u00a0and\u00a0Stockard Channing<\/a> will also be reprising their characters, Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny, respectively.<\/p>\n

\n\tWood also told ET that she\u2019s \u201csad\u201d she doesn\u2019t get to return because \u201cwe bonded with that cast so much as children, and so to miss out on the opportunity to look at that cast and look at that house as an adult and see the history in our eyes, it\u2019s something that can\u2019t be faked.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPractical Magic 2 hits theaters on Sept. 11.<\/p>\n
