There\u2019s a feeling of perpetual movement and elusiveness in the pictures he took of a city on the edge of Europe.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-477238\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/dublin-1991-butcher.jpeg\" alt=\"Dublin 1991\" width=\"1010\" height=\"665\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Early in 1991 he took a one-month artist\u2019s residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Annaghmakerrig, Co Monaghan. He had never been to Ireland. \u201cFor some time I had been attracted by the idea of visiting Dublin. Then suddenly I was offered this residency\u2026\u00a0 It was dark. I was staying in a small hotel \u2013 I think it was called the North Star\u2026 I was a bit scared, but also drawn to the atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The photographs convey \u201cmy feeling at encountering places and people in the city\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The pictures are from Dublin by Krass Clement at The Gallery of Photography and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.setantabooks.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">book<\/a> of the same name.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-477231\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/dublin-1991-shop.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1010\" height=\"657\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Krass Clement was born Copenhagen in 1946 and is a self-taught photographer. He graduated as a film director from the Danish Film School in 1973, and when it became evident that his future was not to be in film he returned to the photography he had practised since his youth. He published his first photobook, Skygger af \u00f8jeblikke (Shadows of the Moment) in 1978 and since then has published more than 20 titles<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-477237\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/dublin-1991-news.jpeg\" alt=\"Dublin 1991\" width=\"1010\" height=\"1488\"  \/><\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-477236\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/dublin-1991-people.jpeg\" alt=\"Dublin 1991\" width=\"1010\" height=\"1494\"  \/><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/flashbackshop.com\/collections\/all-t-shirts\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/In-Post-ad-3.png\" alt=\"t-shirts\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThere is a certain melancholia in my work. I am quite attracted by it. After all I come from Scandinavia so it is a sort of second nature. And yes, a lot of my work can be characterised as being about loneliness. But I don\u2019t want to get too philosophical about those aspects.
