Anime adapting Rascal Does Not Dream light novel series’ “University Student Arc” premiered on July 5<\/p>\n

Crunchyroll<\/a> began streaming the English dub<\/a> for the Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus (Seishun Buta Yar\u014d wa Santa Claus no Yume wo Minai<\/a>), the television anime<\/a> adapting<\/a> the Seishun Buta Yar\u014d (Rascal Does Not Dream) light novel series’ “University Student Arc,” on Saturday. The English dub cast includes:\n<\/p>\n

The new anime premiered on the Tokyo MX<\/a>, Gunma TV<\/a>, Tochigi TV<\/a>, and BS11<\/a> channels (as well as on the ABEMA<\/a>, U-NEXT<\/a>, Anime H\u014ddai<\/a> streaming services) on July 5 at 11:30 p.m. (10:30 a.m. EDT). It is also running on Asahi Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)<\/a> TV, M\u0113tele<\/a>, and AT-X<\/a>. Crunchyroll is streaming<\/a> the anime as it airs.<\/p>\n

The returning staff for the anime includes director S\u014dichi Masui<\/a>, anime studio CloverWorks<\/a>, series composition writer Masahiro Yokotani<\/a>, character designer Satomi Tamura<\/a>, sound director Yoshikazu Iwanami<\/a>, and composer fox capture plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Conton Candy<\/a> performs the opening theme song “Snowdrop.” The characters Uzuki Hirokawa, Ikumi Akagi, Sara Himeji, and T\u014dko Kirishima (as voiced by their respective cast members) perform the ending theme song “Suiheisen wa Boku no Furukizu” (The Horizon Is My Old Wound).<\/p>\n

Kadokawa<\/a> published the first novel in Hajime Kamoshida<\/a>‘s series, titled Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Seishun Buta Yar\u014d wa Bunny Girl-senpai no Yume wo Minai<\/a>), in April 2014. The 14th novel, titled Seishun Buta Yar\u014d wa Girfriend no Yume wo Minai (Rascal Does Not Dream of a Girlfriend), shipped in August 2024. The 15th and final<\/a> volume, Seishun Buta Yar\u014d wa Dear Friend no Yume wo Minai (Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend), released in October 2024.<\/p>\n

Yen Press<\/a> is releasing<\/a> the novel series in English.<\/p>\n

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Seishun Buta Yar\u014d wa Bunny Girl-senpai no Yume wo Minai), the first television anime<\/a> based on the light novel series, premiered<\/a> in Japan in October 2018 and aired for 13 episodes. The anime adapts the story up to the fifth novel volume. Aniplex of America<\/a> streamed the series on Crunchyroll, Funimation<\/a>, and other services.<\/p>\n

Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl (Seishun Buta Yar\u014d wa Yume-Miru Sh\u014djo no Yume wo Minai<\/a>), the anime film<\/a> that adapts the sixth and seventh light novel volumes in the franchise<\/a>, opened in Japan in June 2019. Aniplex of America and Funimation Films screened the anime in the United States.<\/p>\n

A sequel anime project adapted the eighth and ninth novels in the franchise: Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out<\/a> and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid<\/a>. The Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out film opened<\/a> in Japan in June 2023. Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid opened<\/a> in Japan in December 2023. Aniplex of America screened<\/a> the films in U.S. theaters in March 2024.<\/p>\n
