Shaun Cassidy opted out of life as a singer at age 21 to have a more \u201cstable\u201d and \u201cgrounded\u201d life.<\/p>\n
The former teen star said in a new interview that he loved doing concerts and playing music when he was younger.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just found that writing and producing television, which has been my main job for much of the last three, four decades, just allowed me to have something closer to a normal life,\u201d Cassidy told People<\/a>.<\/p>\n Shaun Cassidy (seen above in 2021) shared that he stopped performing to live a \u201cnormal life\u201d and write and produce television. Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images<\/p>\n The \u201cAmerican Gothic\u201d creator explained that he wanted to have a \u201cstable\u201d and \u201cgrounded\u201d life, unlike the one he had as a kid.<\/p>\n \u201cI yearned for it as an adult, and it took me a while to find it, but I did, and I\u2019m really grateful I did,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n Cassidy has created and written television over the past 40 years, notably working on projects such as 1997\u2019s \u201cRoar\u201d starring Heath Ledger, the 2005 series \u201cInvasion,\u201d and recently NBC\u2019s \u201cNew Amsterdam,\u201d where he served as a writer and executive producer. <\/p>\n The singer (seen above with his family) explained that he wanted to have a stable and normal life, because it was something he \u201cdidn\u2019t have as a kid.\u201d shaun cassidy\/ instagram<\/p>\n The \u201cTeen Dream\u201d singer (seen above in 2019) returned to the stage in 2020 with the \u201cMagic of a Midnight Sky\u201d tour. He shared that upon the completion of the tour, his agent asked him if he was \u201cready to do that again.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cInvasion\u201d writer told his agent that he loved performing, but needed to focus on his writing projects, to which his agent suggested he go on a \u201ctwo-month holiday tour.\u201d<\/p>\n Cassidy (seen above in 2025) quickly followed-up his 4 year tour with his 2025 tour, \u201cRoad to Us,\u201d which played across 57 different cities in North America.
