OXNARD, Calif. \u2014\u00a0Cowboys safety\u00a0P.J. Locke<\/a> was helped off the field during Wednesday’s training camp practice with a knee injury, a person familiar with the situation told The Dallas Morning News.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Locke limped off the field with roughly half an hour left in the team’s first training camp practice. He was back pedaling during a play and appeared to injure his left knee when he planted on it. It was a non-contact injury.\u00a0Locke walked alongside Dr. Jim Maurer, the team’s head trainer, off the field. He didn’t return.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Locke was one of multiple secondary additions the Cowboys made this offseason. He signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Cowboys <\/a>after spending six years with the Denver Broncos. Locke had an interception in the AFC playoffs to help seal a win over the Buffalo Bills last season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In Denver, Locke overlapped with new Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker<\/a>. Earlier this offseason, Locke was heralded by the coaching staff for his leadership and his communication skills in a secondary that features a lot of new players.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Locke spent the majority of the team’s first practice on Wednesday working with the second-team defense.\u00a0<\/p>\n
