Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington<\/a> to view the incredible sights atop the Empire State Building. <\/p>\n“It was crazy high,” Camden exclaimed. “It was scary high up!”<\/p>\n
He also rode the subway, visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art, took in a Broadway show and the Statue of Liberty. <\/p>\n
“I also got this pizza passport that someone made for me,” Camden said while holding up a booklet that was created for him by Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington team. <\/p>\n
It documented his favorite pie shops in the city. <\/p>\n
Slice after slice after delicious slice. <\/p>\n
“It changed my life by just distracting me from all the hard things that happened after Cancer, and during, and before,” Camden said. <\/p>\n
“You go to a new place, you wake up in a different room, you eat a different kind of thing, and you also have a different kind of a purpose when you\u2019re on an experience like this. And I think that helped him. And I think it helped all of us, right? Not just a specific thing to look forward to, but really like a different kind of way that you\u2019re living for a few days. It really lets you takes some of those oscified things that you\u2019ve been thinking about and memories that were stuck in your brain and kind of shakes them loose a little bit and let\u2019s you let go of some things,” Chris Riley said. <\/p>\n
“Make-A-Wish is just like a break from what you\u2019re going through where you can just have the freedom to do what you want,” said Ree Riley, Camden’s sibling. <\/p>\n
The trip allowed Camden the freedom to just be a kid. <\/p>\n
That’s his focus now. <\/p>\n
Thankfully, there have been no signs of his tumor on any scans ever since he rang a bell more than one year ago to mark the end of his treatment, Camden’s father said. <\/p>\n
“I hope for 2 things for my kids. They are very smart. And I want them to be successful in their careers, but that\u2019s not what I hope for. I hope for them to be happy. And I hope they make the world around them a better place. And he\u2019s already doing both of these things, so,” Chris Riley said. <\/p>\n
It was at that point during Chris Riley’s interview with McCarron that his emotions hit. <\/p>\n
“Yeah,” Chris Riley said. <\/p>\n
He thought about what his son has been through, what they’ve been through as a family, and the possibilities ahead. <\/p>\n
For Camden, those possibilities are endless. <\/p>\n
“I want to be a doctor,” he said. “Because I wanted to help other people with brain problems that went through like me.”<\/p>\n
