Big Bear bald eagle Jackie is continuing to receive care for her injuries after getting in a fight with two other eagles, but the wildlife rehabilitation center caring for her said she\u2019s now out of the intensive care unit.<\/p>\n

Jackie was suffering from anemia and inflammation affecting her kidneys<\/a> after she was found injured from a fight over territory on July 17. She has since been treated for her injuries and condition at the Ojai Raptor Center, which placed her in an oxygen tank and tended to her wounds.<\/p>\n

Despite the beloved bird exiting the ICU, the wildlife center said she \u201cremains a very sick patient and continues to require intensive treatment and monitoring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Shadow, Jackie\u2019s mate, has continued staying at the couple\u2019s nest amid Jackie\u2019s absence. The pair\u2019s two eaglets, Luna and Sandy, may have left the nest to begin their own journey, Friends of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV) said. With that in mind, it\u2019s unclear what the future will hold for Shadow.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the eaglets have moved on, Shadow has no reason to visit the nest or stay within the habitat,\u201d FOBBV said. \u201cThis would be considered his summer vacation, and he can hang out and perch wherever he is comfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n

The nonprofit noted that Shadow may decide to wait for Jackie\u2019s return, potentially find a new mate as some bald eagles do, or even decide to leave the Big Bear altogether.
