Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM<\/a>) completed its $3.9 billion acquisition <\/a>of AI-software startup Modular and secured a long-term BMW chip agreement, sharpening its push beyond smartphones just hours before an earnings report that will test whether diversification is translating into meaningful growth. <\/p>\n

Qualcomm generates revenue from Snapdragon processors, connectivity chips and automotive platforms, alongside licensing fees from its wireless-patent portfolio. Modular adds software designed to run AI efficiently across CPUs, GPUs and other accelerators, strengthening Qualcomm’s attempt to compete from personal devices to data centres. <\/p>\n

Qualcomm will supply Snapdragon Digital Chassis technology for next-generation digital cockpits, advanced driver-assistance systems and AI accelerators through the next decade. The deal expands a partnership that produced Snapdragon Ride Pilot for BMW’s iX3 and places Qualcomm against Nvidia and Mobileye for future vehicle-computing programmes. <\/p>\n
