A rare summer cold front<\/a> is expected to reach the depths of Texas this week. It won\u2019t exactly send temperatures in the Alamo City plummeting to fall-like days, but it will offer a slight break from triple-digit heat, with a chance of storms.<\/p>\n

The cold front is slated to reach San Antonio by Saturday evening, August 1.\u00a0As temperatures <\/a>rise<\/a> well above 100 degrees, cloud cover and isolated storms could help ease afternoon temperatures slightly.<\/p>\n

“Saturday evening into Sunday morning, a frontal boundary is forecast to push across the local area and (produce) isolated to scattered showers and storms,\u201d the National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio office<\/a> warns. \u201cCan\u2019t rule out a few showers or storms on Sunday across the Hill Country, otherwise, back to dry weather conditions for next week.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Weather Channel<\/a> estimates a roughly 20% chance of storms in San Antonio on Saturday and Sunday. It also said\u00a0afternoon highs should dip back into the 90s, peaking at 98 degrees on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

While it won\u2019t be the kind of\u00a0cold front<\/a> that kicks off the early days of fall, this northern front could end a heat advisory expected on Saturday. But it won\u2019t stave off the heat for long, as it\u2019s slated to move out of the region just as the next workweek begins.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A rare summer cold front is expected to reach the depths of Texas this week.
