The blowback was strong enough that in 2019, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2019\/10\/19\/politics\/trump-property-no-longer-considered-for-g7-summit\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">scrapped the idea<\/a> of hosting a G7 meeting at his Doral, Florida, resort.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh00053b6nxx25v049@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            But in his second term, Trump has shown a greater willingness to openly accept gifts from foreigners and foreign governments alike. And to find ways to profit.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh00063b6nd962pjkw@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The president has already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/06\/13\/politics\/financial-disclosure-trump-2025\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">made millions<\/a> from his family\u2019s cryptocurrency ventures, foreign investments, private clubs and the sale of a host of Trump-branded products, according to his latest financial disclosure documents.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh00073b6n59pifvwi@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Trump made more than $1.3 million from Lee Greenwood\u2019s \u201cGod Bless the USA\u201d Bible, $2.5 million from Trump sneakers and fragrances, $2.8 million selling \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/09\/26\/politics\/trump-watches\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trump Watches<\/a>,\u201d and more than $1 million on a \u201c45\u201d guitar, a popular moniker referring to his first term as the 45th president.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh00083b6nuoj1f1s5@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            And then there\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/06\/16\/business\/trump-mobile-wireless-service\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trump Mobile<\/a>, a wireless service with monthly plans and a $499 smartphone.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh00093b6ng7piaw88@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            His companies continue to ink foreign deals. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/05\/13\/politics\/trump-middle-east-business-invs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CNN reported<\/a> in May that the Trump family\u2019s business ties to the Middle East have more than tripled since the president\u2019s first term in office, including several new projects since Trump returned to the White House.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh000a3b6net5x7udx@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Perhaps most notably, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/05\/19\/politics\/trump-adminstration-approached-qatar-jet\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trump accepted<\/a> a luxury 747 jet from the government of Qatar as a \u201cgift\u201d to be used as Air Force One \u2014 and one that would part of his presidential library after he leaves office.\n    <\/p>\n<p>       <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/gettyimages-2214055688.jpg\" alt=\"This February 15, 2025, photo shows a Boeing 747 on the tarmac of Palm Beach International airport after US President Donald Trump toured the aircraft.\" class=\"image_large__dam-img image_large__dam-img--loading\" onload=\"this.classList.remove('image_large__dam-img--loading')\" onerror=\"imageLoadError(this)\" height=\"1333\" width=\"2000\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh000b3b6nv5qr7sce@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Trump\u2019s critics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/05\/15\/politics\/democrats-raise-trump-corruption-concerns\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">loudly protested<\/a> the plane as a blatant attempt by Qatar to curry favor with Trump and enrich him personally \u2014 as well as a possible violation of the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the US Constitution, which prohibits federal officials from accepting gifts from foreign governments without congressional approval. Even some Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/05\/12\/politics\/gop-senators-trump-plane-qatar\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">expressed misgivings<\/a>.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh000c3b6nnku0xsmu@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            But Trump brushed those concerns aside.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh000d3b6nk8djuvr1@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cI think it\u2019s a great gesture from Qatar. I appreciate it very much. I would never be one to turn down that kind of an offer,\u201d Trump said in May. \u201cI mean, I could be a stupid person, say, \u2018No, we don\u2019t want a free, very expensive airplane.\u2019 But \u2026 I thought it was a great gesture.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh000e3b6nfl6ie1s9@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Ethics watchdogs say the sprawling number of business ventures Trump is pushing in his second term \u2014 including those that benefit from White House policy, such as crypto \u2014 has far outpaced that of his first four years in office.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh000f3b6n1ms9xp4w@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cTrump is using a driver to smash through basic governmental ethics norms. He\u2019s deploying the power of the White House to enrich himself and his family,\u201d said Robert Weissman, co-president of Public Citizen, a consumer rights advocacy group.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh000g3b6nfq7xtcfj@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cThe grift in the Trump administration was the greatest in American history, and it is orders of magnitude worse in the second administration,\u201d Weissman added. \u201cHe\u2019s misdirecting policy and taxpayer assets to serve his personal interest, rather than those of the American people.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh000h3b6n7sqc56a0@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The White House has repeatedly rejected allegations that Trump is blending his businesses with the presidency.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh000i3b6nvmw2ozfr@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cIt\u2019s frankly ridiculous that anyone in this room would even suggest that President Trump is doing anything for his own benefit,\u201d White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in May, in response to questions about whether the president would conduct personal business meetings on his trip to the Middle East. \u201cThis White House holds ourselves to the highest of ethical standards.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmdkovjkh000k3b6nnggvfiyz@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Trump\u2019s assets are in a trust managed by his children, and the Trump Organization earlier this year announced the president would not have any involvement in the day-to-day running of the company, which was the same setup he had in his first term.
