Thursday will be sunny and brutally hot, with Houston expected to reach around 100 degrees. Several communities west and south of the city could also hit the century mark, while coastal areas remain slightly cooler. Make sure to limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the afternoon and stay hydrated.<\/p>\n

The peak of the heat arrives Thursday through Saturday, with highs around 100 to 101 degrees and very little rain relief. Sunday finally brings a slight change, with temperatures falling into the mid-90s and a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms.<\/p>\n

This upcoming weekend the high pressure begins to move west, allowing for a weak front to approach the Gulf Coast. This will be the next best chance to see any measurable rainfall in southeast Texas.<\/p>\n
