(WDRB)\u00a0\u2014 A golf course that welcomed players for more than 50 years is about to become a neighborhood with hundreds of homes.<\/p>\n<p>Penn Run Golf Course was sold to Elite Homes\/Arbor Homes for $6.25 million, according to our partners at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/louisville\/news\/2026\/07\/29\/golf-course-sold.html?utm_source=sy&amp;utm_medium=ptr&amp;utm_campaign=trendcontent&amp;utm_content=lo2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Louisville Business First<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The golf course is along the Jefferson-Bullitt county line in Shepherdsville and will become Oakmont Meadows, a new community with 422 single-family homes.<\/p>\n<p>The neighborhood will be built in phases, with three types of homes planned. Prices are expected to start in the low-$200,000s and reach the high-$300,000s before upgrades and other features.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Metzkes, division president of Arbor Homes\/Elite Homes in Louisville, told Business First the project is still in its early stages. The community won&#8217;t have a clubhouse, swimming pool or recreation center. Instead, the company plans to make use of the property&#8217;s natural features.<\/p>\n<p>The project will stretch across both Jefferson and Bullitt counties. The Bullitt County portion is expected to become part of Hillview, according to Metzkes.<\/p>\n<p>The golf course opened May 1, 1970. The Emberson family operated the course for decades before it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wdrb.com\/news\/business\/penn-run-golf-course-in-bullitt-county-to-close-after-54-years-of-operation\/article_8358b24b-fed0-4d36-9fb6-e589cfa5ca83.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">closed this month<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WDRB Media.
