{"id":969127,"date":"2026-07-30T13:40:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T13:40:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/969127\/"},"modified":"2026-07-30T13:40:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T13:40:10","slug":"lapd-fatally-shoots-man-swinging-bat-at-cars-near-freeway-onramp-officials-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/969127\/","title":{"rendered":"LAPD fatally shoots man swinging bat at cars near freeway onramp, officials say"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Los Angeles police shot and killed a man who was swinging a bat at cars near a freeway onramp  Wednesday evening, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>About 6:30 p.m., police started to receive reports that a man with a bat was threatening pedestrians with it and hitting occupied vehicles near Normandie Avenue and Washington Boulevard, the Los Angeles Police Department <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/LAPDPIO\/status\/2082661997800513850\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">posted on X. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>By the time officers arrived in the area, the man had moved south on Normandie Avenue and officers found him at the 10 freeway underpass, the department said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen officers arrived to the area, they encountered the suspect, armed with the bat,\u201d and fatally shot him, police said. <\/p>\n<p>Police did not provide any additional details on why they opened fire.<\/p>\n<p>After the shooting, paramedics arrived and rushed the man to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The man\u2019s identity was not immediately available.
