Next on the list are state fairs in Wisconsin, Iowa, New York and Indiana.<\/p>\n<p>The State Fair of Texas gets its moment as No. 6 of 10.<\/p>\n<p>Dallas\u2019 annual fair is a nationwide food trendsetter, a corny carnival where some of the strangest ingredients are baptized in sizzling oil and served on sticks. The State Fair of Texas\u2019 Big Tex Choice Awards, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2025\/08\/19\/how-did-state-fair-of-texas-food-and-drink-contest-get-so-big-so-bizarre\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">which started in 2005<\/a>, brought us Fried Beer, Deep Fried Butter and Fried Bubblegum.<\/p>\n<p>We wondered if Minnesota, Wisconsin or Iowa could compete with Texas, where everything\u2019s bigger and all that. But \u201cin the Midwest,\u201d Yelp said, \u201cstate fairs are serious business.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>(We\u2019d make a joke here about how they\u2019re just trying to enjoy life in the middle of the country without oceanfront property, but, well, Dallas doesn\u2019t have much in the way of scenery, either. Does White Rock Lake count?)<\/p>\n<p>Texas leads the pack with the \u201cmost outrageous\u201d food, according to Yelp. Minnesota wins for stuff on a stick.
